Is stock wheel size on G37X 17x7.5 with 45mm offset?

Would M45 Sport 19x8.5 fit okay? I'm not sure the offset - I think 50mm?. So if rim is 25mm wider and offset is only 5mm more, then I'm looking at the wheel sticking out 20mm more than stock? Or am I getting the offset opposite - less the wheel sticks out less not more? I think it is more the wheel sticks out less. The sticky here seems to recommend smaller offsets the for the wide wheels 30-35mm? That doesn't make sense to me if less offset the wheel sticks out more since there is less space between centerline and the mounting surface.

Lower the number the more the wheel is pushed outward. I would recommend running a spacer if you are going to go with the M45 wheels. 50 offset is pretty weak and will be sunken in. If the wheel specs on the g37 are what you posted, the m45 wheels will only stick out 8mm and you will have 18mm less area on the inside going toward the suspension. I would run at least a 15-20mm spacer in order for this fit right.

15mm spacer would make the offset of the m45 wheels a 35
20mm spacer would make the offset of the m45 wheels a 30

30mm wheel spacer on the m45 wheel will push the wheel outward 28mm (3mm over an inch) from where you wheel sits now if the offset is a 45 and the width is 7.5.

I would be surprised if the M45 wheels didn't fit fine without a spacer seeing that they are stock wheels, albeit for a different model sedan. I suppose the wheel wells could be significantly different as far as clearance goes. These wheels I do not think would look good with spacers. The stock tires stick out about as far as you would want. So if I stayed with 225 width tires on the M45 wheels, it is 25mm wider wheel = 25/2 = 12.5mm wider from center but with 5mm more offset so the rims would stick out 7.5mm more than the current stock tires do. I think I could get away with 1/4" no problem. But 1/2" or more and I think it will start looking funky.

I suppose a 19x8 would work better than 19x8.5.

The m45 wheels don't fit fine on the first gen sedans without a spacer and they surely aren't going to fit fine on the 2nd gen sedan seeing that you have more fender clearance than the first gen sedans have.

Did you even use the calculator that I posted a link for?

Your car, do what you wish. I gave you my opinion based on my vast knowledge of offsets. It seems if you knew the right answer you would not have asked for advice.

Probably should read this information as well.

Good luck!

p.s.

found pics just for you..

See how sunken in those wheels are, especially in the back. Granted the vehicle is lowered but I think it will look much worse if it wasn't.

Here is what it should look like with 15mm spacer:

What works and what looks good aren't always the same things. I've seen SO many rice rides where it was obvious the guy didn't know what he was doing from an aesthetic point of view - in other words, they made it fit but the rim was too wide or wrong offset so the tires stick out from the wheel wells. But obviously I'm not going to buy something that doesn't work as you seem to be implying. No need to get testy. I understand you are trying to help.

And yes I saw the spec post you provided the link too. It is incomplete by the way. It doesn't list 17" size/offset for G37 Non-Sport Sedan. Only 18" which is off because the Non-Sport doesn't come with 18" wheels. (I pointed that out months ago but no one has updated it) There's also no note in it that says to use second gen G35 non-sport 17" specs for G37. They are basically the same car but you can't assume the reader knows that.

Thank you for posting the pics of that wheels with 15mm spacer. It does appears to look okay with that 15mm spacer although I'd say another 5mm and I think the wheels would be sticking out too far, but I'm very picky about keeping a stock fitment look. I'm assuming those are 225 tires?

Thanks again for your help.

This is advertised as a stock G37 front wheel. 19x8.5 with it looks like 43mm offset - seems strange as I would think the M45 wheels are the same and not 50mm offset but I could be wrong.

Anyway, if this is a stock G37 19" OEM wheel, and offset is 43mm, then why would you need spacer as the OEM wheel should fit without a spacer should it not?

Well the m45 wheels are +50 and the g37 sport wheels are +43, so with that said, the m45 wheels will set 7mm further IN than the g37 sport wheels. I'm not saying either of those wheels will not fit, they fit, it is a matter of what looks like s*** and what doesn't. My opinion is the m45 wheels look like s*** on g35/g37 sedans without a spacer. The oem wheels on the g37 sport look like s*** with the factory offset that high. This is purely a matter of my opinion and we all have them. You have three options, you can run the m45 wheels and they will look like the cardomain pics, you can run spacers and it will look 100x better like the graphite g35/7 that is pictured or you can get wheels with the right offsets so spacers aren't necessary to make it look right, completely up to you.

I will post this again since you may have missed it.

5, 7, 10 ,15mm - we are talking mostly 1/2" or less in difference here. But like you I'm picky. But to be honest I would be surprised if 10mm makes that big a difference visually. I would think the tire width is really what is most important as far as the look. Now if we are talking 20, 25mm+ difference, then that is significantly noticeable. But you recommended 15mm spacer on a 50mm offset on an 8.5" wide rim. That is only 8mm difference on an 8.5 mm rim with 43mm offset. 8mm is 1/3 of an inch. That to me is a 'borderline' noticeable difference. 8mm is really not that much difference but you are advocating the 43mm without spacer looks like s**t?

I assume those pics you sent aren't an X, because staggered on an X is a no-no, unless you use identical tires sizes. The reason being is that the circumferences won't match even with same tread wear between rear and front and the AWD diff doesn't like that, at least past a certain tolerance point.

tire size has the least amount effect on this equation. The tire can only be as wide as the wheel, unless you are stretching tires or over sizing, which is improper to start with. I am aware that tire sizes should be the same on the X, so run a 245 all the way around and call it a day. I have played around with enough offsets and spacers to know from first hand knowledge, that when you start talking about 10,15,20,25mm spacer difference, that is night and day. Just compare the two m45's, you can honestly sit there and tell me you can't notice the difference between those two with only a 15mm spacer. Now the effect is even greater on lowered vehicles. I don't know if you car is lowered or if you plan to in the future, but wrong offsets make or break the look on lowered vehicles more than anything.

Yes to me, the stock wheels on the Infininti G37sport look like s*** because they are too sunken in. The stock wheels on the 350z look like s*** because they are too sunken in. The stock wheels on the g35 look like s*** because they are too sunken in. This is just my opinion and I am VERY picky on how things look. The gray g35/7 pictured with those spacers is damn near on the money on how the car should have looked wheel spec wise right from the factory. I would even go with a 20mm spacer in the rear just to make that rear wheel absolutely flush. My wheels on my car are "FLUSH" with proper size tires as well. I'm not talking about this "hellaflush" fad either. I run a 8.5" wheel up front with a 15mm spacer which puts the front offset at a 20. I run a 10mm spacer in the rear on 9.5" wheel which puts the offset at 35. Front tire size is 245/40/18 and rear 275/35/18 currently. Summer tires were 255/40/18 and 275/40/18. This year I will go up to a 255/40 on the front.
