Did you have any BG BK44 in the gas tank? That would have really scrubbed your fuel system down. There's something about speed and the nuerons in the brain that, permitting you have a vehicle that attain such speeds, make the foot push down on that pedal every once in a while. It's an impulse of which there is no cure, no thereputic remedy. We are only human and it feels wonderful to climb to NASCAR status. Why would they make sports cars if this wasn't known?

When there's passion in the design and engineering of a car, you can feel it.

What gear were you in when you "dropped it into fourth"?

I still would like to run the Silverstate Classic once, but I would have to upgrade my tires as they are limited to 130 mph. What tires and pressures were you running?

Presume you relied on speedometer? You just blew away every factory BMW four door available in this market.

Someone on this forum needs to go to the salt flats with a GPS.

I was in 4th when I dropped it into 3rd.... My Tires are new all around... 18" Sumitomo HTR+. I've been really playing with the car a lot this weekend and really finding out how much this swaybar works. I realize you can't rely fully on the speedo but I'm sure that when the needle climbs and pins (not that I did it) and RPMS keep rising on the tach, there will be no doubt.

EDIT-- Wtf was I saying? LOL I keep wishing for a 5 speed.

it's one thing hitting 150 iside the car, ANOTHER is hitting 170 on a Hayabusa GSX1300R (limited) with turbocharged engine. That evil machine had about 30% left in the throttle twist. I backed off only because I got scared sh...less from what this thing can do!A friend of mine just got Hayabusa built with falicon turbine. I got 90Mph second gear - F-ing SCARRY!I will never own a crouch rocket - it is a suiside! This thing can Kill anything on the road, even a rider

Congrats, Drew. I really don't think the Q can be fully appreciated until it's been driven at those speeds.
DrewQ45 wrote:Don't know if this is engineering genius but the faster I went, the more the Q tightened up and gave that TAUGHT hunkered down feeling with lots of remaining compression reamaining in the GAS pedal.
Yup. It LIVES at those speeds. I spend 90% of my time in the Q over 75 mph - it's an Autobaun machine - it's what I love most about it.

This seems like a good time to link to the old Speeding Stories thread:

Q45Tech always refers to the VH45DE as an exotic engine which is pretty true. It's at those speeds that you truly realize though.

In our contant battle 1st vs. 2nd Gen I have to say, when it comes to HIGH speed, the 1st gen was amazing. My dad's 92 on my last trip to bring it back to LA after 6 months and the wife deciding it was too big and drank too much gas (she has a 1.6 Sentra now) I got it up to 145mph on highway 101 trying to catch an S Class Benz. What was amazing is that she still had lots more to go. I have gotten my 97 up to 130, still plenty left, but I think that 92 with the right tires and new ECU could do 170!
