117 top speed?

A friend of mine has a stock '90 240SX and every time he reches and or tries to exceed 117mph the car stops responding to his throtel imputs ontell the car slows down, I think he said, 10 or so mph. Any one know how he could go about ridding this top speed regulation?

Is there a way to kill the rev limiter with out loosing the odomiter?

Yea cut the wire right before it goes to the ecu. then every thing else will work.
