I am not a %100, but I believe the automatic revs higher than the manual. The automatic doesnt use the computer to limit the revs during regular driving, it has a seperate device that tells the transmission when to shift.I say that I am not sure because I can not remember who was talking about it or when/where I read about it. It makes since to me because my father had a Bronco II that I drove until I was able to purchase another car. It had problems shifting(wouldnt downshift properly, it would carry out gears too long, etc..) and there was some kind of little module(it was ran off of vacuum) that told the transmission when to shift that was bad and had to be replaced.
Do a search, someone has to talk about it on here somewhere.
I found the post...
