You'll kill him. The VQ is a torque monster, so you'll destroy him from a dig...and from a roll...and from everywhere else. Take it to the track and show him who's boss

OHHH SHYTTT! HE JUST HIT HIS VTECCCC YOOOO!

You should take this as a learning experience to grasp knowledge about your car. The fact that you even begin to believe that you would lose to an SI, lets me further know, you have some studying to do. Get out there and race some people. Take steps to race harder and harder cars, to see where your limit is.

Also, after 100 is not where the altima coupe stands out

if your talking about striaght up performance the 3.5 will win

but then i drove my buddies 08 si too before..and my god do i love his clutch/transmission...its like heaven and hell compared to our gay transmissions and clutch

even if i get flamed for this im ganna say it...nissan has the worst transmission/clutch system...and i have total right to say this since my clutch has not been fixed for 8 months already....AND **** even there normal clutches suck balls

Looks pretty close, right?

Now the torque:

Civic SI: 139 @ 6100A/C 3.5: 258 @ 4400

Nowhere close in the straight line. The Civic's gatta wait for the vtak to kick in yo.

i've seen some at the track with intake manifolds and exhaust, headers, etc and i'm not going to lie, they were running the same or like .1 to .2 secs quicker BUT those were NOT stock. unless your friend's Si has a good amount of stuff done to it or you're like the worst driver in the world, you'll win.

SI = slow, immature.

well, maybe not. But show him who's boss - that little 4-banger can't handle a real engine like the VQ...

What problems are you having, I have had zero issues with mine.

I know alot of people complain about the transmission and clutch for the 3.5se's but my buddy has a 03 350z and driving his 350 and my 3.5se and I find both our cars have the same quarks. Both have 'high' engaging and disengaging points for the clutch. Both our trannies have the same nuances, where the car shifts smoothly and the next time you start its changing gears isn't smooth, the car bucks. The only differences are my transmission seems to be smoother when shifting, and his clutch pedal/arm seems to be stiffer, and both maybe due to his 350z has 8 times the amount of km's then mine.

My old 350Z had about 1/3 the throw of my A/C, it was literally a flick of the wrist i absolutely loved the transmission in the Z

Thats the shifter not the transmission, but yes I agree, thats why we need a short shifter for the A/C.

I agree, the nissan clutches I've tried sucked balls lol (Maxima 04 3.5SE and altima coupe 08 3.5SE). but with a heavier shift knob like my razo one and some better manual transmission fluid it becomes almost awesome.

I've been in a honda S2000 and that transmission BLEW MY MIND .

but they say that the new 09 manual transmissions should be smoother, but I'm guessing they only added a heavier knob and better transmission oil

sorry maybe buck was too strong of a word, but what I mean, is some days its smoothest shifting ever give the CVT a run for its money and other days its like the transmission wants you to know that its there, and make you feel the shifts.

i saw a video (can't share it for reasons unknown) of a evo x racing a 08 3.5altima sedan cvt from about a 40 roll on the highway. the evo x left the altima like it was standing still. good luck to you brother!

The Evo X's all-new aluminum-block 1,998cc 4B11 engine weighs 28 pounds less than the beloved iron-block 4G63 and makes more peak power: 291 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 300 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. But it doesn't have the same high-rpm kick as the 4G63, and honestly we miss it.Here are its numbers:0-30 mph: 1.7 seconds0-45 mph: 3.1 seconds0-60 mph: 4.9 seconds0-75 mph: 7.2 secondsQuarter-mile: 13.6 seconds at 101.3 mph

30-0 mph: 28 feet60-0 mph: 112 feet

600-foot slalom: 70.7 mph200-foot skid pad: 0.99g

sadly one of the fastest cars I've ever owned was a 95 mercury cougar xr7. I used to drive that thing around in the snow, scary as heck, but I had to get to work. I will for sure be getting the a/c. I guess I'll just have to get some good performance mods when they become more availble. I kinda wanna know what an aftermarket exhaust will sound like with the 3.5

08altima35 said the Evo X can do a 13.6 stock. my best 1/4 mile run was a 13.9 with a 3.5se CVT altima coupe BUT i had my muffler unbolted after the cat..... it was almost a 13.8 (it was a 13.912). so if you get a stick shift 3.5se and electronic exhaust cut-outs you'd be at 13.7 if driven correctly. soooo if the evo X does a 13.6 with a good driver and you're saying this guy is a really bad driver, with electronic exhaust cut outs you MIGHT be able to beat him if you get lucky. but it would be nice to get a couple other mods also. but one downside to electronic exhaust cut-outs is that when you hit the switch and open it up, he might not want to race you lol it makes the car sound like a MONSTER!

so your saying your ford escape is slower then the xr7... must not be the 3.0 litre then , anywho welcome to nico, and also there are several threads with sound clips & videos of the exhausts on the 3.5
