Hello everyone. My 2008 M35X will not go over 65 MPH, from 0-65 it's fine but will not go any faster. Has anyone else had this issue? If so what was it? Thanks. Adam

Do you notice any form of RPM limiter or is it stricly speed? Also, are there any other lights on in the gauge cluster?

Here's something for reference - 03-m45-electrical-gremlin-t607397.html

Is it more like a governor limit where you can press the gas pedal and the speed will keep "bouncing" off 65mph?
Or you simply put the pedal down and the car struggles to get there and tops out at 65?

If you are in manual shift mode, can you stay in a low gear and keep the RPMs really high as you accelerate and it still "bounces off" 65mph?

Did you just buy the car? Or have you had it for a while and this is a new problem?

We have had this car for quite some time and this is a new problem. The key light goes on and off randomly, sometimes when I try push the car past 65 the VDC ,Slip and Lane lights come on , sometimes they don't . I noticed that the fuel distance to empty is WAY OFF, not that it has anything to do with this. While in park and driving it has no problem revving up to 7 thousand RPM's in lower gears , it's the 65 MPH plateau that limits the RPM's .In 3RD gear it was doing 48 hundred RPM's at 65 MPH

Get the car scanned first, even though there may not be a service engine soon light kit on dashboard.
Could be any of your catalytic converters are clogged?

Im not sure what the VDC, Slip, and Lane lights all together mean. I suspect it is telling you of some sort of problem but I dont know what the combo actually is. Maybe some sort of sensor that is putting the ECU into a limiting mode.

I believe all of those lights all together means the car is low on brake fluid...but no idea why that would prevent you from going past 65mph.
