I have an 06 SL AWD that I purchased brand new in April. For the past 2 months I've been having problems with the brakes sqeeking. It first started whenever I backed up. The later when I was coming to a stop. I took it to the dealer and they said it was dust. Well that didn't fix the problem either. Is anyone else having these problems?

Yes, I have an '06 SL (it's not AWD) and have been noticing a brake squeal when backing up. This has been going on since the first day (it now has 2K miles) with no sign of letting up. Have not yet heard the noise when applying brakes going forward.

Yes, I have noticed it since I bought in August every time I back out of my garage. I have the 06 SL (not AWD). I have a little over 3000 miles now, so I plan on having it looked at when I take it in for the oil change. I do not notice it any other time though.

I bought the same car this summer and experience a high pitched squeek every time I back up. I took it to the dealer and was advised they could not duplicate the noise. I drove the car the next day and it squeeked every time I braked in Reverse. Called to complain and will bring the car in again. I will post the results.

The Service guys told me that the break's squeak when they are cold and after use and they warm up, then they won't squeak anymore. They only squeak in the morning when I am leaving, so he could be right, but my husband's Honda doesn't squeak when he leaves in the morning and they are cold. I'm going to ask about that Service Bulletin as I haven't heard from my dealer. Thanks!

I have an 06 SE that does the same thing. I've just had my 6,000Km service completed.

Like others here, it appears to be in the morning or when I first take it out of the garage on a given day. And only in reverse.

Can you get a copy of the service bulletin? I don't see anything at NissanHelp.com. http://www.nissanhelp.com/Bull...1.htm

i've got an 04 murano sl and ive got almost 60k miles on it and it has been squeaking for a long time. let me tell you guys that it does not let up. it occurs always when backing up and also going forward but only when the brakes are cold, once uve been on the road for a few minutes, they won't make that squeak anymore. im pretty sure it has something to do with the brake pads on the calipers vibrating. I've asked nissan if they can fix it but they can't do anything about it. sorry for the bad news guys.

I bought my Murano 7 days ago. (2007) After much research about the brake noise issue, I chose to buy it anyway. My Murano does "screech or squeal" but only in reverse. Before I bought the car, I asked the GM at the dealership to check into it. He left for some time and when he returned his words were exactly this, "Nissan acknowledges there is a problem with the Murano's brakes in reverse. They are currently working on a "schim" to correct the problem. You will be notified in writing when it is complete".

That satisfied my concern.

Same here. I took my Murano in for it's first oil change and I asked the Service Dept. if something was in the works on the brake noise. I would prefer that my neighbors not always know that I'm backing out of my driveway. Same response. Nissan knows this is a problem and a "fix" is to be available in March. We'll have to see what happens but we can't accept this problem, we expected better and this needs to be corrected.

I have followed through all the way to Japan HDQ. My car was fixed two weeks ago and no more problems. There will be a recall for the problem on the brakes and brake pedal noise. Parts are on order for dealers so they will have them in stock.I am told the recall will happen over the next few months. Finally!

I called the dealer who states the parts are on a "national back order" he took my info and VIN and stated he could order the parts for my vehicle in particular and would call me when they are in. Finally - an end to the screeching!

I own an 06 Murano and had the same damn problem.

Took it to different dealers and tried looking online for any info but no go.

Anyways my car came back from the dealer today and they told me there's a bullitten out for it. I though I'd post it here since I love the car but the brake problem was driving me nuts. I hope this helps some of you out so you don't have to go through what I did. Cuz taking the car to different dealers and thinking it was fixed, then squeak the day after was a bit frustrating.

BULLITTEN NTB07-012"Squeal / Squeak noise from the front brakes when backing up with cold brakes"

Only online reference I found was here:http://www.nissantechinfo.com/...07012

I have 2006 sl awd. Brakes have been sweaking since day 1.Been back to dealer 2 times for repair.First time they turned rotors and replaced pads, second time was after service bulletin came out. The brakes still sweak and now they are doing it some when the vehicle goes foward which they had not done before.

Ok gentelman. I have an answer to your prayers for this problem.

The noise is caused by faulty brake pad shims. No they are not on national backorder, any dealer should have them in stock. To resolve this issue, the pads, shims and caliper hardware need to be replaced. Take your vehicle back to the dealer and tell them a Nissan technician informed you that there was a Nissan Technical Bulletin out for brake noise in reverse. Also, tell them to use ASIST to look up the symptom for the brake squeak. GOOD LUCK!

All,I have a 06 SL (AWD) with about 26k miles. I have had it into the dealership 4 times to try to fix this problem. The first time they told me that they could not duplicate the problem. So my wife and I videoed the car making the noise and took it with us to the dealer. They added the stop squeal grease to the front shims; this fixed the problem for awhile. Since then I have had both front and rear rotors turned on the car and I still have the problem. I have talked to Nissan North America three times about this problem. I am currently working with them and they are talking about changing all 4 rotors and break pads. This "FIX" will probably get me outside of my 36k warranty. I have been checking into the Lemon Law here in NC, not sure if it applies for brake noise.GOOD LUCK!!

Don't know about the brakes themselves making noise here but my brake pedal squeaks to high hell everytime I touch it. Better get some WD-40 I guess.

Just wanted to now if anyone out there has actual going there murano to quit squeking

Been fine since the repair in March, otherwise it would have been traded.

My wheels squeaked from day one. After a rain they will squeak for a block then sound goes away. Worse in reverse. Nice for over $30,000.00. This car stinks. Rides like a tank. My passengers say thinks like OUCH! and OH MY GOD! They should be saying "nice ride" for this money.

My '07 SL AWD squeaked in reverse only. My dealer under warranty resurfaced the rotors and changed the pads and it's been squeak-free since then (3 months ago).

My '06 was fixed after I brought in the Bulletin and they fixed them under the warrenty and I haven't had a problem since. It was kind of strange at first when I backed up and didn't have the squeak. Very quiet now. Still love my Murano.

2003 Murano, 72,000 mi. I had the squeak since day 1 and dealt with it for a whole year. Finally I gave in to replace all 4 breaks. I paid a little under 300.00 for all 4 breaks in Whitney,Tx. I no longer have the squeak, but don't get me started on why I've spent close to 1000.00 the last two months on my leaking oil pan or replacing the radiator that blew out!!!

I think ceramic brake pads cause the squeak. I have 2004 Murano (70k miles) and I never heard any squeak. When I had Chrysler 300m I changed brake pads (ceramic). So, I heard squeak every day, but only when pads were cold. (I am sorry for mistakes, english is not my native language)
