It is only for the V-6 though ... does not go into the M45.

Interesting ... but $2k for an ECU?

Pricey! While it may (I emphasize the "may") help the HP increase a bit, I wonder if it is worth the money in the long run. I would much prefer to see a supercharger or a Turbo that would fit our cars. Unfortunately, the one example (Keuylian) that I know of, went out of business ...

Might be, although the Fuga is the Y50 chassis and uses the "new", very-slightly-modified 4.5 engine as in the current 2006+ US-spec M45! So, it might be more optimum for those cars.

In any case, wanna get one and report back on how well it does?

Yea, who knows.

On IMPULs website they have something on there about the chip for the Y34. I can't read japanese though.

IMO the hardest part is going to be the custom tune that will need to be done, the fabrication shouldnt be a big deal. Yeah, itll be hard but it can be done.

Unfortunately, the Y34 listed there is the JDM Gloria and Cedric. These do not have the 4.5liter engines as introduced in the US in the 2003/4 M45 (note the engines listed on that web site for the Y34 chassis are VQ25DD, VQ30DD, VQ30DET).

You think 10k$ is pricey for a supercharger, think about 30k$+ and that was for the IS300 (never had the balls to get the 30k kit lol). Plus I was going to convert the 2jzge into a 2jzgte, etc etc... would've been nice if I wasn't 6'3 :\ But then again I have the M45 now and cant wait to "race" (aka toy) with the IS hehe

I would consider $10k for a supercharger or a turbo. But $2k for an ECU upgrade seems way too high ... the physical cost is tiny, but I don't want to be the provider of all the money to do the research of programming the variables. They need to amortize that over more potential customers and units.

This is part of the problem with Y34 M45 (USDM model) mods. There just weren't enough sold to justify development of add-on products, unfortunately!

Interesting!

They don't have one "ready" for the Infiniti though. Their "universal" one could probably be used - needs a lot of fabrication work, though ... hmmm ....

If you guys really want one of these I can build a SC or Turbo Kit that will put numbers down. I built a turbo kit for the 91-95 Acura Legend. On 7.2psi it put down 305whp and 352 ftlbs coming from a 200hp flywheel rated 3.2L. I think the M45 is more suited for a SC because it will look cleaner under the hood and go on with ease. Seriously...is anyone interested in doing this? You guys need to check out my work on the below page. I am thinking $4-6,000.00 should be a pretty nice kit depending on the unit we use.

Leave me a comment there or send me a message if you are interested. Thanks, [email protected]

OK, so I spoke to the guys that carry the SC and it is for the 3.5L engine. I guess that is all they are willing to carry thus far. The guy also mentioned that there is a 5.1L stroker that they will ship to your door for $30K. It is 380hp so obviously a really cost efficient hp mod! Is anyone interested in this or am I the only one who want to get r dun!

THanks, Kyle

30K for 40 horse? WTF?

You can get a custom twin turbo job done for way less and be pumping out 700 or more.

I'm in for a kit under $7K. Shall we see if we can find 25 committed buyers and shop the idea to a vendor?

Honestly I already did shop vendors. They will want to charge you 10K+ for the kit. The max I could feel right charging is $7k- if that. I do not mind them charging that much if they feel like they add value of some sort. If we have you and I for starters that is enough for me. The more buyers we have the more efficient the entire process becomes. Head units are just over $2k and I can get brackets, pulleys, and management for the other $2k.

A few questions...

1. Do we want to have an intercooler? FMIC or watercooled? Or upgrade at a later time?

2. How much power(psi) do we want?

3. What engine management will we need/ want? I have had good experience with the Apexi SAFC as a crude management type. This is a major cost factor, and if we go more than say 450-500whp then we will need & want better management.

That is the stuff that will get us started!Kyle

On my end I vote for the more conservative approach-400whp as I'd like to keep the car running past 100K miles and don't have an endless supply of cash.

I'm sure there are other folks looking for quite a bit more power- do you mind starting a new thread and see if we can get 2 or three others committed to doing this? Maybe a two stage approach can make this work for all.

This dude claims he's currently building a kit that will be done in 2 weeks? Maybe you should hit him up... Although I would love more power in my M, I'd rather have it as a comfortable daily w/ some wheels and suspension, and leave the project car hassles for a garage/dyno queen...

Yeah....I checked this guy's car out about a month ago. Pretty sweet! I know a few people that got some work done on their g35's. I was thinking about checking out Vinny Ten Racing for engine mods. I was definitely thinking about a turbo set-up, but twin turbos had never crossed my mind. They advertise Jim Wolf twin turbos on their site. I'm going to stop by their shop within the next few weeks and get some ideas. I'll keep ya posted!

Sorry guys...I just know they are one of the best in the country with turbochargers. It may be worth a phone call. Be the first Infiniti motor they've ever done. Obviously, someone wanting to do all that to an M, money is secondary...lol. I have a Nelson 572 w/ twins in my 90 Chevy 454SS truck. It will out run a Z-06 in the quarter with no problem. Happy hunting!
