Hey Grant,

Post up a picture of your "eGay" kit and I'll see if anything is amiss.

Unless you connected any circuits, I can't see that causing a problem. Like Steve and someone else asked, did you connected the ECU/ECM to your grounding matrix?

My install instructions are very specific about how to tap into the ECU boot. Slicing it the wrong way means you cut ECU wires.

Get the yellow top if you have an aftermarket amp...minor work will be needed to allow the connections to fit properly.

P440 is the DTC it's been throwing since I installed the exhaust, I have a code reader at home which helps... but I had no AT check light or any transmission related codes or anything like that so far, will scan again tonight to be sure.

There was water leaking in below the glove box on the passenger side, down the kick panels, and seeping into the mat / floor as well. so it was coming in below the battery, it caused the cabin air filter to be soaked, and subsequently now stinks like *** with the AC on etc. Does it seem likely that the water could've entered the ECU or something? It was soaking in my car after 3 days straight of heavy rain.

Sentient, I will be removing, selling the egay kit, I never tapped into the ECU for reasons you mentioned, or the transmission. I will plan to order the set from you, are you getting more red in, or should I just go for the charcoal? Probably in the next 2 weeks, I'd like to fix this issue first, and free up some fundage as well.

I think you just found your problem.

The ECU sits right next to the in-cabin air filter/blower motor. If the Filter got wet, the ECU probably got wet too.

The only way I can see the filter getting wet without the ECU is if the water entered through the opening where the blower motor goes to the engine bay...which is very possible.

Right now, I've got a spool of Cobalt Blue and Gunmetal Gray on order. I'll probably order some more red, but I personally think the Blue is PURE SEX. I have the Charcoal on mine right now, but I might take them off in place of the blue hehehe.

Thanks man, I'm going to look into all this tonight, I'll get some pics, code results, and I'll check for moisture around the ECU as well.

Regarding color, I may wait for the red, but I'll think about it anyway, not in a huge rush right now, due to the

There is no PO400 listed in the ESM but I am assunming that you are pulling an EVAP leak code. There is most likely a broken or disconnected purge line somewhere in the system. Was your vehicle part of the fuel hose campaign?

As for your water leak that is some pretty important information to pass on about the water on the passanger floor. Check connector B401 under the glove box. With the key off disconnect the large white connector and look at all the terminals for green corosion. You may be lucky since the ECM is mounted facing the floor the you may be fortunate in that there is nowhere for water to get in. I would recommend sealing the hole and inspecting for damage, I can almost garauntee that you will find something. Here is the Electrical section of the ESM http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Coupe/2004/pg.pdf Check page PG-54. If its possible to post some pics of anything you find I can tell you how to clean it out correctly.

Everyone...

Sorry about the code mixup, it was PO455, just checked tonight... and I actually just read the recall of the hoses wearing due to ozone or something, I will check with Infiniti on this as well.

I installed my clear headlights and fixed another electrical problem with the altima tonight (window relay) so I never looked into the G35 dash yet. sorry. But the whole senerio is making sense now, I hope.

So, I'm still slacking, looking at coupes all night, debating the trade for 6 speed now,... well again, heavily.

I feel that this electrical issue may need a closer professional inspection, I'll get some pics for you guys when I get under there...

but the evap hose recall has me concerned, where can I find the hoses for a ninspection? thanks guys.

I'm planning to buy a new battery this week also... just bought oil + filters for two cars = $100. What will be the next surprise

BTW - Had an interested G35 coupe owner contact me about a potential trade, keep you all posted on that as well.

There's a 05 Black on Black Nav M6, 6mt 25,ooo Miles, and an

03 Graphite on Black interior coupe with 43.000 KM.

Both have low KM and I don't mind either color, probably prefer the black, as it has nav, but I'm yet to Test drive? I wasn't too impressed with the first 6mt I drove, must've been a lemon My could smoke the one I tested a few months ago But I digress, I'm planning to get some pics of the potential trades for some feedback.

Thanks again all.

P0455 EVAP Control System Malfunction

This is going to be a new problem. Look for damaged hose. I got code 0440 all the time on the Hemi because I ran open headers at the track twice and MELTED the EVAP box LOL I tried sealing it up with RTV but it still popped the code about once a week. A leak in any part of the evap system can blow a 0455 IMO.

Good NEWS emissions system would be under warranty in the US not sure about Canada.

If it were my car I would take it to Infiniti just like it is with the 0455 code and let them tell you what is wrong, say nothing about the transmission or any other problems. They just might diagnose the transmission problem for you too?

Sedan = racecarCoupe = sexy pig

Stick with the sedans if you like to go fast

Spoke with Infiniti Canada Claims today, I gave them my VIN, and they claim that there are no outstanding recalls on my vehicle,

So, I guess I need to know where the evap system is located, and what to look for re: damage? cracks? I dunno, just pissed it isn't going to be covered under recall.

Also, just to update, I'm still driving happily with no problems, but I contacted the dealer about trading, and I'm looking at a 6mt next week... Jeff... why do you think the coupe is a sexy pig? The 1st gen sedans are IMO the most neglected G35 from a performance perspective, it's by no means an 07 306HP beast that you have... no sir.

When all my mods are removed, they will be interchangable between coupe / sedan. Except the Greddy exhaust, clear side markers, and of course the 2005 rear end I have

You're going for a 6mt coupe? How about you just buy mine and I go get another one in IP?

Sound like a deal? 58k, brand new engine. Black on black. Base package with sports suspension, VLSD, and 19" forged rims!!! $21k

Sorry, I still see IP coupes all of the time and get sad.

Are emission problems covered in Canada like they are in the US? You don't need a recall to get that EVAP problem fixed in the US unless it is caused by a mod? Maybe drive across the border?

This is how I would do it.Take a spary bottle with soapy water and go down the evap system wetting each part and watchind for bubbles. I don't know where your evap system is look for a plastic box or cylinder with hard plastic line going in and out of it and that will be a starting point.

Sedans are always lighter then their 2 door cousins because the B pillar between the 2 doors adds stiffness the coupes don't naturally have. The coupe looks better.

k
OK slow down take a deep breathe.

And were good

It was just a suggestion, so your car is not covered by the recall, that was most likely a USDM thing only.

The most likely cause of this is a cracked or broken line somewhere, since it occurred after the exhaust install I would look near the exhaust for a line issue.

The soap and water trick is a good idea, first you have to pressurize the system, the only way I know how to do this is with Consult. The EVAP system operates on very low pressures and does not accept more that 1 psi.

I know there are lots of you who LOVE the Black on Black, but I would have much preferred to have a Stone and Ivory Pearl coupe.
