I am a new owner of an 03 QX4. There have been all kinds of issues since the first day I bought it. For some reason, the stars were aligned and I HAD to have this truck.
I dealt with several issues on the brakes, as the previous owner didn't bother bleeding them correctly, so I went weeks with a rough time trying to "get a grip" on her.
The service engine light inevitably has been on as well since my purchase. The speedometer will fluctuate up and down and all around while driving. I bought it earlier this year in January. There is a leak in the exhaust, the A/C compressor is trashed. The worst thing with the body is the fact that I cannot get the driver side passenger door open. The guy ripped the handles so hard that the actuator is no longer attached. I'm not sure how I'll manage to get it open without tearing up the panel and totally trashing it, which would need replacing afterwards.
I just worked on my antenna today with my dad(he has done my repairs for me while I watch and learn. I participate when he needs extra hands), and now my speedometer won't work AT ALL. I had gotten up to 40mph before it stopped completely. Before, it would at least tell me how fast I was going before dipping up and down a hundred times. AND, I had her in 2WD, and that also changed on its own. It went in 4WD without me doing a thing to it. I was just driving along dry paved road to work, and as soon as I pulled into the parking lot, 4wd popped on out of nowhere. I turned the car off, the O/D OFF light was flashing, flashing before it stopped. It was in 2WD in the first place, went into 4WD, I tried switching the knob in park, but it didn't do anything. I turned the car off and on after I switched the knob from 2wd to auto, back to 2wd and it went back to normal. I have not driven it since, as I am work now so I cannot tell yet if it will happen again.
Guys, I'm seriously having a mental breakdown with trying to get this vehicle's electric working. I'm fairly okay with learning how to poke and pry and figure out how to take things apart and put them back together, but I don't want to do that without some type of leads to fixing it right the first time, or at least getting that much closer to solving the issue.
Please, any type of advice or guidance will be appreciated. I learn better by vision, but hopefully detailed comments will help me equally.
Thank you for your time. If I left any valuable information out that may lead to solving something, please suggest so!!!!!!!!!
