I suspect you have the wrong mirror. Did you buy OEM or aftermarket? Also this seems like an issue with cars intended to have auto dimming mirrors. Not sure if ours do.

Yes, the 03 M45 should have the auto-dimming driver side mirror. What color is the mirror you have now? If it is not a slight brownish deal, then the magic auto-dimming fluid has leaked out and now you are looking at 2 pieces of glass = double vision. It can leak out of the edges even if the glass is not cracked.
...or if the fluid is still in there, did you connect the wires to that mirror?

Does the interior rear view mirror dim? If that's off the side mirror won't dim either.
But since you mentioned double vision and condensation, I still suspect a leak. If the mirror is standing upright, you shouldn't be able to see a brown-clear level in it, the entire mirror should be brownish

My mirror leaked as well, and I did notice the double vision at night even before all of the fluid leaked out. If your replacement mirror is doing this, I suggest you get a replacement. Did you buy from the dealer?

My old post w/pics is at y34-losing-mirror-fluid-t565293.html

(And no, I have not replaced it yet.)

I didn't know the passenger side could dim with the other 2. It's got the blue tint and I thought that was it.

Anyway, seems you just landed a bad mirror. Try finding another from eBay with a decent return policy.

Yeah, use a rag while popping the mirror off at the bottom to prevent you from pinching the mirror's lower lining. There is a seam somewhere along the bottom of these mirrors that could leak fluid if you're not careful.
Good luck mate.
