Hey, I recently purchased and 02 SE maxima. I was told by a friend that the HID headlight bulbs can be used in the foglights? I didn't think that was possible so I figured I'd ask here. Also is there any places where I can get a kit to have HID foglights?

Thanks Rob

EDIT: I found the write up on how to wire everything up but where can the kit be purchased?

yes HID can be put into the fogs lights. i sell the kits i get killer deals. these kits aren't cheap and they retail for 300 for low beam kits and near 400 for Hi/Lo kits

Low beam HID kits i can get for 175 shipped to your door with instruction and everything you need it is all plug and play. (for FOG lights, and for people who just want low beam without a high beam.)

Hi/Lo kits are 220 shipped just also plug and play and w/instructions

i can also get upgrade bulbs for car that come with HIDS from the factory. for $125 shipped.

If anyone has any questions or wants pics contact me 336.682.6489 James

3000K,4300K,6000K,8000K,10000K,12000K bulbs are available

I'm a little bit of a newb at HID's. Would you be able to post pics of each bulb you mentioned and of the kit themselves? Do you have a website with this kit for the HID's?

go with 6000K. that will be the best output without straining your eyes too much. i had 8000K in mine and it was bright, but when i turned them off at night, my eyes felt relief. i will not get anything over 6000K, unless it's just for show.

What would the 6000k look like? Is it shown in the pics above that kingjames posted?

Thanks now only if I could get those pics to zoom in. My monitor at work sucks big time. How can I resize them and make them bigger? I'm liking the 6k,8k and 10k. But as you said it hurts your eyes after a while so I might go with the 6k. for the low beams and maybe 8k for the fogs just to be different or vice versa and leave the high beams stock becuase I don't use them to often.

there he is! what the **** is up man! i will be needing to get in touch with you in about another week or so. i need to order them HIDs from you. i think i have decided to do either the "blueish white" or "crisp blue." i will want to get the high/low's on the headlights and then just the single beam for the fogs (since i cant chnge their beam...but it would be cool if i could, lol). nice sig by the way!!

6000k is a great color. Not too blue and not too white. IMO, it does a better job of lighting up the road than the factory HID's. I would also stay away from HID high beams as on-off is not something you will want to do. Pluse, since upgrading my HID's and adding the HID fogs I never use the highbeams anymore.

I'm purchasing the HID 8000k for the fogs monday. Then next week i'm ordering the low beams either 6k or 8k. I wanna see how the 8k looks on the fogs first.

I would stick with similar HIDs. The 8000k will be nowhere near the 6000k from a looks perspective and will throw down less light than 6000k

just out of curiosity...if i finally decide to order say, a 6k setup...can i just swap out bulbs to a higher 8k at a later time if i decide i dont like them as much as i thought i would? after i install the ballasta & relays, how hard would it be to change the color temps is what im asking, i guess. is it just as simple as changing your bulb as it is with non-HID bulbs??

So the 6000k will be brighter then the 8000k?

Realize you have a color shift going on. 4300k is the closest to sunlight, 6000k has a blue shift which has less lumens than 4300k (thus, less light output); 8000k is a further color shift and has less lumens then even 6000k.

Most people have a common misconception that the higher the K (Kelvin temperature) rating the brighter it gets, but in fact, it is the opposite. The K rating is inversely proportional to the light output, therefore the lower the K rating the brighter the light output.

come on ben, from like 02 and up maximas only came with HIDs. this is up until they came out with the driver preferred package (which is how you get the HIDs now). jk ben. just get the 6Ks and be done with it. IMO, it's better to go at least one step lower in fogs. the fog housing is smaller so this makes them look closer to matching the headlights. just my .02

Depends on your angle. Standing over the car, the fogs look more blue. Standing in front and step back a bit, they are exact.

I might just keep my headlights stock and get the 6000k kit for the fogs

IF anyone wants HID or have anymore questions let me know. My HIGH/LOW kit have a single filament which means for 9004, H4 bulb sizes and that use high/low for the same bulb there is no lag time between the change. (most H/L kits use dual filaments with four ballast and when you switch from L to H you lose light for about 6-10 seconds) *With my kits you don't lose light cause the bulb moves to change the angle magnetically and you don't miss a second of light output.

the kits are great I've sold numerous kits and have them in my headlights and fog lights

It doesnt do it all the time but the situation is happening more often....
