have installed HID in my 05 maxima. Will the HID ballast heat create problems with anything it touches? If the harness wires are touching this ballast, will it burn it? Will the black electric tape melt if touching it? I have the ballast connected to the inside wall of fender (best place I can find) and it's heating up the entire fender after 30 minutes. Is this a problem? Both lights work fine and are connected well.

I had my ballasts touching plastic and had no issues with noticeable heat.

I have no relay and did not change my fuse yet. Would this be the reason for the ballast to be extremely hot after 30 minutes? The lights are working fine.

Dunno. I didn't use a relay either. Maybe it's a poor design of the ballasts?

Hey King James - you seem to know the HID kits really well. I have a question: I recently installed HID in my 05 maxima. It works fine but after 15 minutes it gets extremely hot. I have it installed behind the light in the upper part of wheel fender. The metal it touches get really hot on both sides. It's a plug & play kit and everything seems fine. I'm concerned the ballast is going to short circuit or burn the zip ties it strapped to. What could making it so hot? The entire hood is cool but this area is extremely hot. Any suggest would be helpful. Thanks - Alec
