Finally decided to pick up a RB20 from Jhot. Went down there yesterday with a friend. Picked up my RB,R32 crossmember, turbo timer and strut bar for $1243.00.

Not a bad deal considering all the s**t I got with it.

Here are some pics, sorry some are blurry I've had a fever and it's hard for me not to shake.

Some of my friends testing out the starter, which was good w00t!

Now for the questions. Since I have the R32 crossmember could I use the R32 mounts? Because they look brand new. Also got the drive shaft, although it's hard for me to understand how we can use the stock driveshaft since the KA transmission is longer than the RB?

Congrats on the RB man, keep us posted on your build!!

Iirc you will need the front part of the rb shaft and the rear portion of your ka. Take to driveshaft shop to have assembled, or just buy a one-piece shaft. There's quite a bit about it on this site that could give you more specifics. GL w/ everything

Thanks man, most of the things I've read don't really go into detail. Most of them just say "can use stock driveshaft"

BTW, any info on using the stock RB mounts?

Not true about having to buy a custom shaft for the swap. If you use the rb20,rb20 motor mounts, automatic ka trans mount, and stock driveshaft it will all fit perfect, only thing I had to do was shim the crossmember down a little to allow my hood to close.

Good luck.

Just depends on how clean you want it all to look. If you go RB mounts, you may just have to make a few modifications here and there for the best fit. Just keep probing for info and utilize all your outlets, there is A LOT of info posted on Nico about swaps and different setups.

Well that's the thing, I don't want to use my transmission as it's fuc*ed.

If I have to buy new KA mounts I'd much rather do that, then have to deal with using the KA transmission. I just want it to go in painless as this is my daily.

I know alot of people will be like "well your mistake is modding your daily" comments but it can be done...

Yeah I know there is alot of info on nico, but we all know forum searches suck, and the info is scattered instead of being in one big sticky.

Are you saying your RB trans is messed up, or are you referring to your KA trans? i think what they were trying to say above that you can use the KA auto transmission mount to make everything fit and not the transmission itself. i dont know if you read it wrong but yah just trying to help out and clear things up if thats the case

Ah yes!

I completely skimmed over the *mount* part after he said auto transmission.

So let me get this straight.

1)Stock RB transmission, RB front portion of driveshaft to rear stock KA2)Stock RB mounts, and R32 crossmember plus KA auto transmission mount= Perfect fit for the RB?

Right but wrong........

Stock RB trannyStock KA or 240sx driveshaftStock R32 GTS-T lower crossmemberStock RB Engine MountsAutomatic KA24DE Transmission Crossmember4 I think mine were 1/2" or 3/4" shims to lower the crossmemberSlight grinding of turbo elbow to clear steering shaftHoses to rad (upper and lower) will need to be modded to fitHoses to heater core will have to be modded to seal on firewall fittings without leaking I used 1/2 rb hoses to engine and a slight reducer/splice and 1/2 240sx hoses to firewall.Save yourself headaches and change all the vaccum lines on the motor now with new ones, and plug any unused nipples on the manifold, etc. If you have the rb lower harness, cut the plug for the starter off of it and solder it to your ka starter signal wire.

all this = bolt in engine and trans

If you want a cookie modify your rad support so you can move your rad ahead and use that stock clutch fan.

You will need an SR20 Aftermarket downpipe with the upper flange re-clocked so it will mate up with your stock cat and catback. Or custom downpipe.

Mount intercooler, have wiring professionally done, run IC piping, change fluids...and pretty much start it up and drive.

almost...

1)Stock RB transmission, Stock KA Driveshaft 2)Stock RB mounts would work but consider hood clearance, im running hockey pucks 3) and R32 crossmember plus KA auto transmission mount= fit for the RB in s13

Perfect fit really depends on what ic, ic plumbing, mounts and hood you run.Oh-welcome to the rb club
