Is anyone thinking about doing the Audi look on the headlights. I looked at the 03-04 M's and there really isn't any room, but im not sure on the 05-up.

I was wondering how this would look on the 06+ headlights. Do you have pics? I've seen it done on some cheap a** Hondas with a very cheap look to it. It just came off flat. I would hope the lines of our headlights would pull it off better.

Ok, here are the pics, if I put them on here right. I would also suggest changing the parking lights to LED's, because you will have that awful yellow look right next to your audi lights. If you guys are really interested in doing this, I can post all the steps. It took a bit of time, but it was pretty easy once I figured it out. I also changed out my fog lights for some 6000k HID's. It looks really good at night.

BTW...its also hard to see how bright they are, because these pics are obviously in the daytime. I will try and get some nighttime pics in order to see the finished product. Let me know what you think.

Thanks man!! I basically took the grill off and had a buddy of mine (who paints bumpers for a living) paint it. It was really easy since the Infiniti symbol comes off, and the grill is very easy to take off. The chrome piece on the hood is much more difficult to get off, so I just had a tint shop vinyl it. It came out looking great I think. Pretty easy too!!

Did you wire them to stay on all the time or just with the parking/headlights?

Alrighty, here are some night pics. Its easier to see how bright they are.

Ok....Here are the steps. If you get stuck, just shoot me a message and I'll help you as much as I can. The site that I got my lights from is ijdmtoy.com. They are like $26 for a pair, and they get to your house in like 4 days max. You can also get HID upgrades etc from that site. Start to finish, it took me about an 1 1/2 hrs. I would suggest, however, that when you put these in, you go ahead and upgrade the Headlights (if you want), I upgraded to 6000k, and also go ahead and upgrade your foglights to HID's as well. Doing it all at once is soo much easier.

1. Get yourself a good jack, and a good set of jackstands. You can get jackstands at any autoparts store for like $25.2. Jack up one side of the front end, and remove the wheel. This is soo much easier with the front wheels removed.3. Unscrew all of the front screws that hold in the plastic wheel well covers, and pop out all of the black rivet thingy's?? Only the front part needs to be removed, not the top or the back.4. Next, place your Jackstand on the side you just removed everything on, and move over to the other side. 5. Repeat the same process.6. Now there should only be about three screws on each side of the bumper cover that lay pretty much under the Headlight assembly. Take all three of these screws out on both sides. The bumper should pretty much become loose. 7. Pop the hood, and remove the grill and then there should be two more of those black plastic rivet thingys?? Ha!! Holding the top of the bumper on. 8. After that, the bumper should slide off very easily.9. Wire up your strip of lights into the parking lights using red butt connectors. The parking light wires should be right up front, and very easy to get to. At least they are on mine. The silver wire on the strip of lights is positive, and the bronze one is Neg.10. Once you have them wired, clean the under part of your headlight with alcohol so the 3m tape on the back of the lights will stick very well.11. Very carefully stick your lights under the headlight assembly, and trim the strip wherever you like. Be very careful tho, because you can only trim the strip every three LED's. There is actually a little mark on the strip showing you where to cut.12. Put the bumper back, as well as everything else, and your all set.

It sucks to have to take the bumper off, but based on my research, removing the headlight assembly requires that you take the bumper off anyways. And once you have the bumper off, there isn't any need to remove the assembly, cause you already have access to the bottom of the headlight.

Anyways, it was really easy, and it will be for you if you just take your time. Let me know if you have any questions.

Just wired them with the parking lights. As far as I understand, the M's dont have daytime runners unless you have a canadian model. Plus, the parking lights are soo easy to get to.

are these sticking on the outside? or inside of the case? is there a hole in the case that you can "slither" the led strip through? thought u had to bake the headlights to open it up... guess u dont have to open up the assembly, asuming you can snake the led strip through?

They actually stick to the underside of the headlight. The bottom of the headlight is clear, so it looks like its on the inside. The problem is that you cant get to the underside of the headlight assembly in order to stick the strip of lights underneath. There isn't room because of the bumper, and thats why you have to remove it. Its very sticky, and seems to work well. Waterproof, etc.

A little more work than I am up for, but very nice result. Do you have to remove the bumper to get access to the foglights as well? HID fogs would be my next upgrade but only if it was a little simpler than this to access.

Nope, all you have to do is remove the front part of the wheel well to get at the fogs. When your in there, take a look at the bolts for the bumper.....you will see how easy it is to take off. I suggest taking the wheel off for the fogs as well.....it makes it so much easier.

Duceynash, thanks for a great writeup and source for a simple but distinctive mod. I particularly like the location of the LEDs under the lights. I've ordered my lights and am going to give it a go!

You really wont need any additional wire, and yes...the parking wires. I used the 18-22g butt connectors, and you will only need 4 of them. They are the red ones. BTW msvara...I agree on the Audi's, they look awesome!! But I think the lights on the M45 look good too.

I received confirmation that my lights have shipped, but it may take me awhile to get to the install. I've never pulled a bumper before, but the instructions look pretty clear.

Wiring is another story. I am hoping to wire them so they are always on when the car is on. I use my lights on the "auto" setting, so I'm probably going to have to install a relay and figure out something that is always hot to pull the signal from. I have the Canadian model, so I thought I could use the daytime running lights as a source or trigger, but the DRLs are actually the high beams on low. So they turn off when the actual low beams are on. Park lights are off when the DRLs are on in the daytime. I have a buddy who is pretty clever with this stuff, so maybe we can wire a relay in that detects when either the park OR DRLs are on. That should work, if I can figure it out.

Or maybe just go the path of least resistance ... wire them to the park lights and stop using the "auto" setting.
