opinons? I have mixed feelings on the red but I think I just gotta get used to it.

Obviously not done yet. Only rolled on the first coat just waiting for it to dry then apply the second coat and wetsand and apply another and so on.

amount of prep work = quality of finished product.

your prep work (0) = crappy finished product

A little color of primer might have helped. You can't really tell until he's done with all the coats though.

the red doesn't look bad it's the paintjob quality. Any color with the exception of white would've looked the same way.

use some quality paint and ditch those watercolors

Looks good for your first coat. Two more coats and I think it will look good. You didn't tape anything off? Why?

did you sand the window trim and weather stripping? the taillight too? that s*** just looks lazy. If it makes you happy I'll edit my previous post and give you 60% effort, but its still really lacking. Masking tape is your friend, you can sand all you want but all that "over-roll" makes it look like a hack job.

I've read many articles about painting cars with a small roller. YOu have to thin paint til it's about the consistency of milk and then lay down coat after coat wet sanding between each one. These paint jobs are super cheap and can look like a million bucks if done right. Look at this and then everone can shutup.http://www.rickwrench.com/inde....html

Yeah, I was just asking opinions on the color. Wasn't looking for criticisim on my "s***ty" paint job.

It's the first coat and there is no need to mask anything off except for the window trim which I did mask off with electrical tape cause it's all I had but it covered it fine.

Other than that I'll just update this when I'm done with 3 - 4 more coats cause I guess looking at this just hurts your eyes

The red looks okay, it'll be hard to give an actual judgement until it's done / cured.

Im pretty sure that's red. So yes you did paint your car red. ( answer to your title). Now to stop being a d!ck, your on the right track. I just help my brother with a rolled on paint job and yours seems to be coming out better. Its gonna look like crap the first couple of coats then it will be better. Takes a lot of man hours... oh and don't mind the Noobers and how they like to pretend to be experts.

Dude, get some super fine steel wool and about 3 gallons of acetone. That looks bad, you even painted part of the window moldings..... Maaco does better work.

I do have to say the s13 hatches look pretty sexy in red, and I am sure once you get some more coats on the black poking through will go away and it will begin to take on a nice job. I've always been weary of painting my own cars, with the exception of maybe some touchup on bumpers. Best of luck with the rest of the painting, will check back to see how it goes.

Kudos on the DIY-ness. Only one way to really learn what you can do.

It's not that bad.

If you're happy with the end result, then nobody else's opinion matters other than yours.

P.S. On a side note, you should sell me that Bride seat and rail.
