My friend has broke the shifter in half while drifting.

If you want to go cheap on a shifter, go for it.I don't think it's the best idea.

my friend has one on his rx-7. he actually thinks its pretty good, it came with the car when he bought it. I myself dont really like it but i havent really felt any short shifter besides a stock miata shifter. theres almost no side to side play at all and it doesnt feel like the car is in gear when it actually is.

NOT the stock one.

No, just shifting. Nothing wild.

You think ebay $40 short shifter is engineered well with tons of quality control? hahaha

Maybe you should just go for it.

Save a buck.

A. you might break it and crash and perhaps die in that crash.B. it might work great.

Put your life on the line.I'm sure it will be worth the extra money saved.

Yea, one of 'em cheap one from Ebay, I was playing with it and shifting it up and down, and the inside cracked before I even got it install, a friend used it and he's having good result with it (for now) that's why I got it, I wouldn't get it again though would save up for the real B&M.

I saw Enjuku advertising these on Zilvia. They claim it is superior to what you'd find on ebay or from Megan...

Might be worth a look. Alot of ppl seem to swear by Enjuku's service and merchandise...

I purchased one!Didn't fit correctly! I had to drill a hole to mount it. Currently have my stock shifter in again. I'll give you mine for a milky way bar or twix even.

it cant be that bad if phase 2 is selling them why not call them up and ask if there is a warranty on them if you do break it.

sometimes GOOD shops have to sell **** parts because that's all that sells with the new generation of poor 240 owners.

Yes, but when your shifter breaks, you know you can still steer and stop. No need to be melodramatic.

I'm not so sure about you, but snapping shifters don't seem like good parts to me.

No he was referring to, and I quote "GOOD shops", not eBay.

A. Push clutch pedal in.B. Then apply BRAKE.C. When car comes to stop get out & curse D. Then call tow truck.E. Finally buy a better shifter.

I SERIOUSLY doubt anybody is going to die.

Actually I own a Ebay C's-replica shifter, had it for four years. There's one problem with it: the plastic bushing at the bottom of it. It did not fit properly into the shift linkage causing it to wobble around IN GEAR, and if given the proper tug/pull it came out quite easily. Of course I was smart and took the bushing off and used a press to get the bushing from the oem shifter onto the short shifter. Now its perfectly safe and functional, and has several years of autocrossing and spirited driving on it.

To the OP: So yes, somebody could quite possibly get in an accident, hurt themselves, etc if the shifter were to fail. Imagine if you couldn't safely shift into neutral if the shifter popped off?

That $79 unit from Phase2Motortrend is CHEAP. If you can't afford that, then save your money and use the stock shifter. If you think 240sx parts are bad, try finding **** for GC-era Imprezas. Not worth it being cheap... "Buyer Beware"

Tell me about it, I want a really good exhaust and Stromung makes the best, and the price is $600+ compared to $400ish I paid for my HKS for my S13.Grimmspeed might has some stuff or Touge Tuning. Don't know, I have a EJ22
