Alrite so this morning my car decided to have me 30 min late to worklately my car has been bogging/losing power randomly during my drives, now its more and more often until this morning where it completely stoppedit cranks.... but i didnt check to see if my fuel pump is priming or not... without the fuel pump, what other things should i look out for?new fuel filter and injectors... and ive got to do a 120 mile drive tomorrow so I really need to diagnose this guys

*EDIT*

KA24DE correct? Check and make sure you're getting spark at all cylinders too. Check what you said first, but check that too. Pull the plugs and make sure you're not flooding the engine or that they are completely shot.

I know it's a KA, I was just poking fun. Not necessarily, sometimes the spark can be weak on a plug/wire and cause bogging check the wire's resistance and check for cracks or rub through where it might contact and arc elsewhere. Was there oil on the plugwire end near the plug or on the plug itself? You don't need iridiums on the stock KA, waste of money, just use stock OEM replacement NGK's. Check your pump and your injectors first. Make sure they are working properly. ump is easy to change out. at least you don't have to drop the tank to change it like you do on many cars.

i dont have a ohmmeter to check resistance oil was on the end of the plugwirei got them for practically dirt cheap/free so Iridiums ftwinjectors can be checked by listening to them prime right?yea thank god its in the trunk and its like 4 bolts

Psssht please. My shiz is cool. I'm rebuilding it because I want to and it can handle boost like a champ, and my ish isn't broken just being stock LOL. I'd bet on fuel your fuel pump. Since you ish is stock and slow as flip you don't have a fuel pressure gauge which would make your life lots easier. Sucks to be you.

You are missing fuel or spark. That's the problem......................

LOL Seriously though turn your Key to the ACC position or ON (I Forget which) and have a friend (if you have any) listen and see if they hear the fuel pump priming. Check your distributor too y0. I dunno what for though. Distributors are for pansy motors like the KA.

And no, FPR's don't have gauges on them.

You have a Walbro? Fail w/o FPR. You should get an FPR cheapas$. Has your car been backfiring lately?

noo nooob i have teh stockieand i want to run a walbro till i get i get a SR or Ka-t

even with my full exhaust my car would still run rich and have small backfires here and there

whats soo bad with running a 255 without a fpr? its like $130 for the regulator and another $50 for the adapter

Fuel will push past the stock FPR and you'll run rich and foul up plugs faster. No biggie on a stockish setup but if your tune is for a 1:1 rising rate FPR and you are making greater than stock power it's a really good idea.

By the way, the Skyline pump is better then stock, but I'm not sure how well it will work it's been sitting for awhile...

Was $107 or so shipped when I got my FPR from Intense a couple months ago. (still haven't put it on though, huge fail, I need a gauge and I'm too poor to go pick one up) Oh and I got an adapter free, booyah!

eh had my dad take a lookhe listened to my injectors primesince one is practically brand new, ( less then 3K) on itthey all sounded the same, and since i cant find me a voltmeter to test

im gonna assume its my fuel pump... the car started up now, idled perfect, but under anything more then 4K RPM or 60% ran slow as hell

Hey Daniel (Button) if you can send out the KA Fuel pump dude, ill paypal you however much you want

test your alternator and wires coming from the alt make sure they are tight and clean. TRUST ME. also check with a voltmeter at the battery with the car running and see what voltage you have then turn your lights on with car running if you are putting out less than 13 volts you need a new alternator ,they are suppose to put out around 14 with your lights on. Yes your alternator can be bad and your idiot light will not come on unless it doesnt put out anyvoltage.Let me know what you find.

no. if your voltage regulator is bad then when your lights are on it will not charge your battery and start running it low and the car will want to shut off on you

It still seems odd to me that a fuel pump would just go in and out like that man, I don't know.

hmm....that reminds me of an electrical problem I had on a differenet car. Is your ECU throwing any codes? Sounds like something might be messing up your timing and causing it to retard. Maybe not, but it's worth looking into. Something could be blocking/clogging up your lines too, starving the engine of fuel. I don't know man

i have a code 45 for fuel injector leak, but i dont smell fuel from the exhaust, i was assuming i have low pressure from my pump, and thats causing in turn low fuel levels into the injector

god i hope its not a electrical gremlin

if they were bad injectors the car would sound like a wrx like it has be4so i scratch those out

what else should i look @???i mean, i getting really good gas mileage when my cars in "ghey" mode, ive noticed so its not getting fuel?
