Unplug your maf and see how it drives, if not better put a new tp sensor in it and have fun damn..2 months and still havent fixed it.....and if you havent ran an external ground from your maf sensor than you need to, the ground in the wire-harness is not good after time and can cause a loss in ground resulting in your problem......

Where exactly are you saying to connect this ground? From Metal frame of MAF to a known ground or cut the existing ground wire and replace it with a new one or ??????

Please be as discriptive as posible or better yet ..Pictures!

Thanks

wished we could figure this out...i was also told my cat can be clogged or bad which may cause those symptoms..anyone know if a clogged cat would be causing all these problems? Seto, is your cat very old like mine? if so, maybe it can be the cat???..imagine it is such a small problem like that??

i would be interested in what the plugs look like are they smutty do they smell like gas ( when it wont start ). do any of the plugs look different than the others or do they look like they are burring the same. i noticed you said something about oil on the plug boot and i assume you are talking about a dohc how much oil is on the plug boot? is it on all of them ? ive seen a few cars that if the oil puddles up too much could cause a shortage at the end of the boot causing spark fire to jump away from the plug and go directly to ground through the oil. if thats the case you need to replace the valve cover gasket especially the rings inside the cover that keep oil from running in on top of the plugs. i wouldnt think this would be a timming issue unless maybe you are loosing oil pressure to the adjusters but you would hear a ticking in the motor and probably have a light come on on the dash.

Try checking the plugs. A loose plug(s) can make a BIG difference

sorry for the late reply been busy at work ill try to post a pic of the ground wire .You actually just tap into the ground wire at the maf connector and run it right aroung the core support for the radiator.Sounds like you might just need a new tps sensor from the parts storenot very expensive either. So ill try to put a pic up soon of the external ground it also helps out the rest of the system if you tap into it not just cut it and run a ground to just the maf.

well just a daily update, my car's been running like new all day since i changed the cat. Usually my car would act up on every ignition cycle, it would bogg down and have absolutely no power, RPM's would not go up. It would just kick in and out, but so far so good.

Dude, you have an electrical problem somewhere... I have a 91 ka with the same problem. Some days itrun's great and other days it just won't start. What I have found out is that when I first turn the key on I hear the pump priming and then it just stops. All electrical to the Pump is dead. I'm still trying to figure it out and when I find out what it is I'll let you know. There was one guy here talking about the alternator wirin which makes sense. I changed my alt not too long ago and since then I've had this problem so there mabe some truth to that. My car still is not starting.

im starting to believe its not a electrical gremlini know its fuel being lost/cut somewhere, cuz im getting like 14mpg and i have a CEL for inject. leak, so its either pressure loss or less fuel to the injectors.

however hmart, i suggest you check your spark, wires and grounds, cuz i had that problem a while back , and that solved it!

Sucks that you're having so many issues with this Seto. Keep at and GL, but you might ought to just plunk down the dough to have a professional diagnose this for you, or do a swap.

ive got it down to a few things

i really want to try and either clean/replace/fix my fuel injectorsget new o-rings, find if they function correctly ( dnno how)and just clean with a power air compressor ( my last dead inj. got fixed that way, saw a few pieces of gunk fly out...dnt step on those either, they smudge on teh concrete)

thennn im going to consider a mechanic

A local mechanic thinks its a timing issue. he said the chain could be marked improperly but so far here is everything ive changed and has had no affect.

here's a list of everything we checked that i can rememberits got good if not perfect compressionits got good fuel pressurechanged oil filterchecked timing, its at 20 advancechanged spark plugs and wireschanged coil packchanged o2 sensorchanged fuel injectorschecked tps and mafchecked coolant temp sensor. all seem to be working right.

and i also have mad timing chain rattle, im not sure if that has anything to do with it
this is to u smurf13 i was reading your symptoms and if i where u i would definitly check your timing chain rattle a little closer that could be your hole problem. i dont no what engine u have but i have a ka24e and they are know for timing chain problems mine personaly wore out the guides, tensioner, as well as chain and sprokets

ive actually considering this a while back but i didnt bother to check it because its normal for dual cam ka's to do it and alot of my friends cars with the rattle just does fine.
