I second that. I wouldn't have removed the cage. You just turned a race car back into a street car, when most (actually all) people do the opposite!

But I would have kept the cage and still put the back seats in to make it clean. Still looks good though.

I'm glad you took the cage out. Roll cage in a DD is stupid.

thanks guys!

Removing the cage was a HUGE pain in the ***. And i actually removed the cage for a few reasons. for one, it was a crappy cage design anyway. It was also welded into the car crooked. And I am a sunroof Nazi, which the rollcage would not let me have.

so i yanked it you and installed a sunroof. now, sometime next year, i will install a cage that has clearance for a sunroof.

the car is not going to be a daily driver, but i do plan to drive it quite a bit. the engine mods are in my tagline. the list below is just the tip of the iceberg however.

i am exceptionally proud of that turbo kit. i learned to weld to make the downpipe and dumptube and all together the whole thing cost me about 1200. that includes the turbo, manifold, tial wastegate, downpipe, dumptube, and turbo lines.

ha, yeah, that is not the most recent picture of the interior. i have a shifter now. i got an ebay B&M ripoff and HKS return springs. If the ripoff sucks to bad i will get an Attain shifter. I am just trying to get it on the road!

the only thing i need to order now are shims for my solid lifter conversion.

Car looks so much better. It had a little rice before, but I really like the clean direction it's going in. I even like the start button. +1 for the battery location spot, never saw that before, it's lower which we/I should have thought of. Must do that soon...

Oh yeah and really really nice job on the motor man, turbo and everything looks flawless

Pretty decent project man. IMO you should've kept the look when you got it. Remember, it's just my opinion. Anyways, looks clean. Good luck!

No sh1t? Yours is exactly the direction I'm going with my SR. I'd say that you are somewhat of a role model LOL and your S14 looks amazing. However, that price is simply amazing. It's not twin scroll though huh? The manifold looks like Peak Boost, how's the quality?

unfortunately, its not twin scroll but i paid less than $400 for it so i can not complain. quality is great, and the tubing they used is 1/4" thick. from the picture of the manifold above, i actually had to cut the wastegate tube off and re-clock and re-weld it due to clearance issues with the way i wanted to clock my turbo outlet. i am sure whoever it was designed for had a reason for wanting it like that, but it just was not going to work for me.

according to enthalpy who did my ECU tune, i should see 430-450hp @ 18psi on 93 octane. if I want to go over 18psi, i have to run higher than 93 due to my 9:1 compression ratio.

I'm going to be bugging you a lot now LOL. Why'd you go with 9.1? Also what is the final power you are looking for out of your setup? The reason why I ask is mine will be essentially the same, just S13 SR and I haven't decided on rods or whether or not I want to sleeve.

curiosity mostly. I bought this kit: I did not pay that much for it though, IIRC i got it for a $900.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

I am actually perfectly happy with 400hp. That is more than enough for me, i just spent time getting the best deal on parts and it just so happened that it was cheaper for me to go over that bit. I just wanted to put together a setup that has a great response time in the lower RPM range, but that can keep up with having solid lifters.

also, the top mount rocks as far as working on it. It is a huge improvement over my old bottom mount.

working on a budget and not wanting to cheap out on parts is doable. it just takes some time and a lot of ebay hunting!
