I posted this already on Zilvia... since I am mostly on there.

I was thinking of buying one then i got the retarded idea of doing one of those low budget lips.

this was just for fun to hold me off til i got some real aero for my car.

I didnt like the original home depot lip because well:-it was floppy.-hard to mount straight without a lip already on the car.-only comes in rolls of 30ft at the home depot by my house.

I wanted something cheap, durable, clean, and simple.I actually got the idea from my friend who did it to his miata. He got the idea from some miata forum.

All in all the materials was under $10.+Diamond Loc... the big one. $8 -- Home Depot+Self Tapping screws. $1 for like 12 -- ACE Hardware

Tools needed:+Power Drill... or a screwdriver if you ate some wheaties this morning.+small garden shears

Here's some pics:

under.

Sorry for the low res pics. Ill post better pictures as soon as I get another camera and paint my front bumper.

The rest of my car looks like this:

painted it myself. still gotta colorsand and buff.

Hope you like it.

Looks great how hard would the install be to do with a bumper still on the car and is it as easy as it looks? I'm guessing you just cut it to the lenth you want and screw it on.

looks ok but kinda weird w/o the 2 openings on each side as the oem's have. i just bought a OEM, i think it looks the best but if you got time and patience, i think it will be worth it. i wana see the final product.

p.s. - the lip looks a little thinner than the OEM. if its not too late i'd make it a little thicker...i think stock lip is like 1.75"- 2"

Looks good. I'll probably do this when I switch to pignose, it looks more sturdy than the other home depot lip. Thanks for the info!

yeah, but you wanna go and screw it on first and cut it while its on the bumper so you dont cut off too much.

I went to Home Depot yesterday and checked out this Diamond Lok stuff. It looked good and strong. If you have s13, it's going to be even easier since holes are already there. You can use double sided tape, washers, bolts, nuts and maybe some metal brackets. Surface finish was different from one to another, so you want to take some time and find one with smooth finish. I think you can get any better than this as far as home made lip goes.

i agree, that lip looks better and more aggressive than the stock one which makes the front bumper look like it has a bunch of scoops and air vents, etc.

Has anyone done this to a kouki? I'm considering doing this cuz I already scraped my front bumper on some curbs and streets and it sucks!

OEM lip should look better on Kouki. This Home Depot lip is too plain for Kouki. This v2 Home Depot lip is good for s13 or s14 zenki IMO.

So the name of it is Diamond Lok?? Because I just got back from Home Depot around here and no one has heard of it. Also I looked around but nothing there in the gardening section. Guess I'll go looking around in another one. Can you post a better pic of what it looks like? Thanks.
