that depends on how much power you are shooting for. Get the ARP hardware, and forged pistons if you plan on going turbo. If you plan on staying under 350rwhp, you can use your stock rods. This is also a good time to do your timing chain.

Ok, im new to 240's, and i dont actually have one yet. I had a z32 na but i wrecked it due to some assf***s wreckless driving, so now im saving (work $ + z32 part out $) for a 240. I was just wondering how much a basic kat setup will run you, the setup and supporting mods so the car will be ready to go. This is assuming your starting with an engine in near perfect stock condition, i've already read about checking compression or rebuilding if you had too. Thanks a lot guys, i should be buying a 240 around the new year.

I am still on the fence whether to rebuild my ka or swap to an sr. If I did swap to an SR I would want a s13 sr. I was wondering if nico has dealers for full swaps and how I could get some more info. I would prefer to go through nico and I can't find anything so any push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

| Quote, originally posted by TroubleBound » | Okay so im in the process of doing my sr swap but this is a super noob question so i didnt want to make a thread for it and i tried searcjing but i don't know what any of this crap is even called. So i took off the exhaust manifold cause i got a new one to go onto it. No biggie, but i had to take two things off of the top of the engine that now have no room to be reinstalled and im wondering what they are and if i need them/how+where to relocate them. Is this my Air intake valve? If so, does that mean i don't need it? Cause i bought a AIV plug from enjuku cause the swap guide i have said i needed one )=. And i have no clue what this one is, something relating to the oil cause its the black box that has a hose coming right off of the valve cover. It doesn't look like it should be deleted either way. Where does it go now do i need more parts/brackets?
And as you can see in this last pic, the most recent, my new manifold doesn't leave room for number one or number two to be reinstalled, just wondering what everyone did cause im dumb. Thanks..
 |
Number 1 get rid of all together. It will only create vacuum leaks. the only thing you'l have to do is plug the egr off on the downpipe.
Number 2 bypass that box with hose from an autoparts store, that is for oil overflow. 3rd thing is the most important. Heat wrap your headers very well, you will regret it if not. It will catch couplers on fire. Just an FYI. the stock cast manifold gives you better torque and dissipates heat a lot better. The only reason for a tubular manifold is a turbo bigger than one to fit the stock manifold.

You're looking at about 3 grand to get a turbo setup. This of course depends on what your goals are. You can do it cheaper than that... but you'll have to cut corners. Visit the KA-T forums on NICO and read all about it.

You could do Redline Shockproof gear oil, or 80w90. Low oil can definitely cause that... its also caused by worn synchros.

What's it called when the back of the hood (closest to the windshield) is lifted a little? I believe it's for better airflow but how do you do it? Just curious.

People do it to lower underhood temperatures. I don't think it has specific name, but its just raising the cowl of your hood. Most do it by placing washers (as spacers) between the hood hinge and the hood.

this may be a stupid question but.. im in the middle of my 5 speed swap. i have the trans ready to go in its all lined up but wont go in the motor the extra inch i need. i believe the input shaft is just really tight in the pilot bearing because it was even a little tight getting the alighnment tool in. what would be a safe and easy way to get it in without damaging anything?

Getting that last extra inch is always a pain in the a**... you could try putting a socket on the crank pully bolt and turning it/ wiggling it a bit while you push the trans in from the back.

Alright Im looking at wheels and Im thinking about either buying some diamond racing 16x8 +0 offset wheels or xxr 502 in 16x8 +0 offset. I have a question, in the first picture is the diamond racing wheel in 15x8 +0 and the second pic is a 16x8 +0 and I was wondering why the poke (distance from the outside of the fender to the outside of the wheel) is soooooo much greater on the 15x8 than on the 16x8?

I don't think they are sticking out more. I think the stretched tire and negative camber are making the one with the tire appear to be more flush.

Hey whats up? My name is Dustan and I am buying a 93 240sx in about a week, and it have the digital gauges in it but the speedo doesnt work. What I am wondering is what I need to do to get it to work again or do I need to replace it? I am fairly new to the 240sx scene but am not new to tuners/imports. I had a 99 Mitsu Eclipse GS that I totalled not that long ago. Anyways I will be driving it back from the Dallas/Ft Worth area back to Lubbock which is around a 7 1/2-8 hour drive. It has a rebuilt ka42de in it if that will mean anything.

Those digital speedos/heads up display units go out fairly often. Usually what people do is swap in an analog cluster. I'm pretty sure there is a writeup on NICO on how to do it.

Sweet thanks bro. This is gonna be a good forum to be on. I am also on a couple Mitsu forums from when I had my Eclipse but those guys are super dicks and absolutely hate noobs period no matter what. You couldnt get away with trying to start a thread on there like this.
