I'm currently building mine up with 98mm bore (5.0l), 11.2:1 CR, flowed heads, custom headers and 8x45mm throttle bodies. Hoping for over 450bhp, but time will tell ...

you should get a billet stroker crank with me ...

so you bored each cylinder 5 mm?

Yes, 5mm overbore. Too late for the stroker now, committed to this route. Rods / pistons are made, it's all being assembled.

5 mm is a fair overbore!!

would have raised the compression over 11.0:1

hmmm ... might give that a go ... 5 mm overbore and run 3.5 mm thick head gaskets to achieve 9.0:1

If you want the gaskets made, can probably get them done for you, as the guy who did mine will obviously have the pattern. Aren't you worried about the big squish clearence with thick gaskets.

Not to mention timing change. Why do people think thick gaskets with boost are viable?

Actually, Escort racing do low comp pistons I think, will try to dig out the link for them. They also do Hi comp ones for NA builds. Pricey though

i have to do a new exhaust anyway, no choicei put the engine into the car, it is not a Q45 car

so i need a custom exhaust, i wana find a good size (for N/A at this stage)

i will turbo it (or supercharge) later on, but want to run N/A first, learn the car, get all the susp + breaks ready, and Certify the car so it is road legal

and im not in the USA by the way

cheers

p.s. anybody had a stock vh45 on the dyno? or a mildly modified one? exhaust, maybe cams?? sumbody!?!?!

i really cant see it being a problem since i have full control over ignition timing, cam timing, VVT, etc

Its called an aftermarket ecu and a set of adjustable cam gears if necessary

Here's the link to escort if anyone's interested. They do low comp forged and hi comp cast pistons for the VH45/VH41http://www.escort-us.com/

90 Q stock with JWT ecu reprogram ~~240-250 R WHP and 250-265 R lb/ft.

In a lighter car the cams are wrong..............anyway 330-337 gross lb/ft [JWT ecu] is quite decent for a 4.494 liter even today. The brand new designs can't make that much.......because they are tuned for the HP race numbers for marketing confusion.

The exhaust manifolds are quite good compared to any factory supplied units..........even exotics.

The problems are that the engine was tuned [cams/runner lengths-diameters to plenum] to produce peak torque at 4,000 rpm.........vvt shifts at 4600 rpm............keeping a 4300 pound car with fuel and driver and AC on smooth up a hill with a 2000 rpm @60 mph requires some low rpm bias as the load could be 5,000 pounds with fat excecutives and their luggage from airport.

The driver was expected to act as body guard so some heft was required to fill the job.

hmm thats sound almost 200KW with and exhuast, thats where im hoping for

i may have to change EX manifold to make it fit

if i do i will probably go straight to turbo, so probably another 2-3months of work,

but hopefuly it will fit, and be NA for ahwile
