This is a great suggestion as well. Plus you could always rent lenses if you just pickup the body.wynnEZ wrote:Pickup a cheap D40 and start from there with some additional lens. Bought one about 2-3 years ago and havent looked back since.

Thanks, I am still new to photography but slowly getting better at it. Its only been about 6 month playing with the camera.Empty V wrote:These 2 are some really decent shots, good framing, lots of contrast and detail. Nice work! The D40 has a very rich image, even for older tech.
BTW if you go for the D40 make sure it's the D40x. If you can wait to afford the D50, do it.Xdisaster240sX wrote:Ive been reading up on the D40. Im pretty sure this is what Ill get. Thanks again.
Have you taken any classes? You're in SD I'm sure Mesa offers some good stuff. When I entered the film program @ CSUN it was mandatory for us to take an intro to photography class to even apply for the program. We learned on celluloid film from shooting, to developing the negatives to mixing the the other chemicals and printing on actual paper. It was an amazing experience and very gratifying seeing your images come to life as they develop on the paper. I'd like to go back and do it again. I'll show you some cool things I was able to do with printing that were somewhat inventive thinking. They're what got my acceptance into the film program.bunda4th wrote:

I have never taken any class at all. I just go out and take photos and read on how to take better pictures. I also try to get C&C done for my pictures to see what can be done better. I am currently about to finish school at the art institute for game art and design and try to apply some of that stuff into real life.Empty V wrote:

Nice! My buddy Josh used to teach game design down there. Anyways I still 100% recommend a celluloid class, you'll learn much more developing your own stuff opposed to a book.bunda4th wrote:

Is this picture retouched or is this how it came out straight from the camera?bunda4th wrote:I have the Nikon D40 with the kit lens and a 55-200mm vr lense. Really good camera.
Taken with the 55-200mm lens
Sure there just fine as any other DSLR, has been a competitor for a very long time.Jesda wrote:Opinions on Pentax? Is the *ist any good?
