Why is it that, the 300zx can't keep its value but the Toyota Supra can?I just went on Auto Trader and the Toyota Supra was on sale for as much as an Acura NSX of the same year. Somebody please explain.

The asking price has nothing to do with the value of a car. I could ask whatever I want for my car. It's the final price that a buyer and seller agree on that denotes its true value.

Anyways, you are right, supra mkIVs do sell for a pretty penny. To explain your confusion, it's nothing more than supply and demand.

So, the Supra is a more coveted car the the 300zx? Or is it just harder to find and easier to work on? Because no matter where i take my car to get worked onthey always frown up when I tell what kind of car it is. And their excuse is always there's not enough room to work around the engine, which is likely true.

Seriously, with the history of the Z car... I mean all the racing championships and awards and all you'd think we can get an arm and a leg for our Z's. Our car's heritage runs much deeper than a Supra.

Maybe there were less supras made ? its not just supras ... the mazda rx7 has higher resell values the the Z32 as well

i think the 300gt vr4 and the 300zx TT sit at about the same value

and i dont really see messed up supras going for 20K just ones that look tip top

you see 300zx TT for 8k with half a** paint job and ripped up interior

if you find a 300zx TT in perfect condition, low miles ( under 80,000) the car is worth at least 14,000

Many cars have their own camps of people and interest. The Supra 2JZ is a pretty impressive engine in it's own right. To each her or his own!

One nice thing about the Z32 though, is it's affordable and highly upgradable with a lot of aftermarket parts availability

Or mehbe the people that own MKIV already have alot of money in the first place which is the reason why they can afford a MKIV, and they just drop alot of money into the motor because they are rich, which is why they run 9's

_______________________________________________ 300 ZX TTHowever, the biggest killer of the 300ZX was its inflated price;[citation needed] at its release it was priced at a little over $30,000, but in its final year this price had increased to over $50,000. This left many people questioning its value,

.. Fast and the Furious.. no joke. it built a lot of hype for the car. that mixed with supply/demand pushes the price on the car up reguarless of the *Actual* Value of the car.

it IS true that we have less room to work on the engine than in a supra, and that they sell for more.. and people (for the most part) get more power out of the supra than the Z. it doesn't nessisarily mean that the supra is better, though. Z's usually do better at auto-X, supra better at drag.I've never looked at the price for supra mods. I'm not sure what it would take to get a 9-10 second supra, but I think that it would cost just about as much as it would to do the same on the Z

I'm glad they didn't put the 300zx in fast and furious, that is the last thing I want my car associated with.

The z outsold the supra by like 7-8 times when they were new.

Nissan just made a bunch more of the z32 than the supra and it is simple supply and demand.

Also the supra definitely has an incredible engine and more potential stock. The Z32 is pretty tunable as well, but you are pushing it past 550 hp or so. it would have been nice if Nissan spec'd the z with larger injectors, but stage III is fast enough for me.

Personally I like the looks of the z32 better and it can be made faster than most modern cars for far less.

That said both are great cars that will never be made again and a mint condition TT of either is something to behold. I still get tons of compliments on my z and people attempt to buy it in traffic and random gas stations.

I will never spend 30K on a 12 year old supra no matter what the condition.

Back in the day my dad use to work for a nissan dealership, and he said everyone drooled over the z32 twin turbo when they came on the lot. He told me the z32 twin turbo was the car to have back in 1990. sexy body style, luxury interior, sport suspension, and very fast. and look at it today, it still ranks above new cars in polls and the car is comin on 20 years old.

this is true. so many young people who weren't familiar with the z32 when it first came out think its some New exotic super car from Europe. And I pray to God they bring back the Z32.

I have to agree with the comments above.. supply and demand, but Z's hold their value, just not as well as Supras.
