ok so I have this opinion about Z32 owners not having any history with Z's and thought I should test my theory and find out, so please be honest

Before owning a Z32 did you previously own any other model of Z or sports car, and to be clear a sports car is rear wheel drive, has only 2 seats, and only 2 doors

not sports cars: mustang, camaro, Probe, GTI, CRX, 240SX, WRX

are sports car: any model of Z car, corvette, miata, S2000, RX7

your a prick..

But seriously, I've owned a turbo Eagle Talon and a 240SX before I got my Z, I guess none are considered sports cars.

I'm not going to lie, I don't really know much about earlier Z's, I only know the lineup and names, as far as engines and other info im clueless.

I was the owner of a 2003 Toyota mr2 spyder. I sold it because I was scared to be crushed by an suv or a truck trailer. The car weight about 2215lb. I enjoyed it and really had fun with it. Gas mileage was 33/25 mpg!!!

The 32Z is another type of fun. But gas mileage S***S.

whoa. im sorry evildky but id consider a supra a hell of a sports car.. back seats although usually means family car.. the supra and even the vr4 put that statement down. that being said, i used to have a turbo supra, then an NA z32, now a tt z32.

lol, well I suppose I forgot about the supra, I guess it kinda crosses the line, and of the MR2 is of course a sports car, maybe more so than other cars, those who haven't driven a mid engine car don't know what you are missing, but yes, scary, like a go cart on the interstate, I had an 86 n/a and currently have a wrecked 91 turbo, still looking for a suitable first gen recipient

looks like my theory si pretty much confirmed, those of you who have only experienced your generationg of Z might be suprised at the abulities of other generations and the potential they have

there are some old timers who swear 240z is the only car that matters but most of the other older cars owners can appreciate all generations, you just see a lot more "my generation is the only one that matters" kind of attitude int he Z32 community, and the Z33 comunity seems to have a similar issue

I'll admit the Z32 IS my first sports car, but I'm also very much looking forward to owning the previous generations of Z cars. I've been looking for a decent z31 turbo for a while now, but they are all either completely fubar, or out of my price range right now

Z32 is my first sports car. I was really close to getting a Mustang Saleen 5.6L Supercharged, but for some reason in school our teacher let us get on the computer and i was on auto trader or some site and was in the nissan section and was like hmm what is a 300zx, looked at it and fell in love with Z's. If the teacher never let us get on that day, i think i would be on the mustang forums right now. So i bought a 95 n/a that was in good condition from an older couple and now i have my Twin Turbo! The Z's will be in my blood forever!

1 - 1995 Mitsubishi Galant (hooptie)2 - 2001 Ford F-150 4x4 (Lifted)3 - 1995 Z32 N/A4 - 1991 Z32 Twin Turbo ....More Z's To Come!!!

I agree.... I had a z31 before i bought my z32 and they both were 2+2'sand those back are way to small to call them a family car. I have a 2yr old and its too cramp for her back there... believe me, i tried. the back seats in a 2+2 are for cargo space only. so i don't believe in anyway that just because it has back seats that it doesn't qualify as a sports car. Anyone who's driven a sports sedan and has driven a z32 2+2 can tell that its definitely a sports car.

Last year I almost got my hands on a S2K with 70K miles for 6K from my uncle but my Z wasn' sold yet. Guess it was fate to stay with the Nissan fam.

Been trying to buy my boss's 280Z(BTW we get along quite well ) and friend Ariel 240Z but they just won't let them go. I still want to get a 510 or a C10

The Z32 is my first sports car. Although, after researching other Nissans and older Z's, I have been wanting a 240Z now. I think they're super sexy

well i had an Evolution VIII. Its got four seats, four doors, and a big boot. But it was pretty sporty, but with the current stipulations i guess it isnt. so my jeep which has two doors, 2 seats because i ripped the back seat out, and is most of the time rear wheel drive is more of a sports car. hahaha

i can launch the hell out of the jeep though!

I have to disagree with you there. Every Z32 ive bumped in to would LOVE to have a super clean 240z including myself. I know the history/timeline of the Z car very well (anyone who is proud of their Z really should).

Having said that...the Z32 is no fluke of a car, look at what was out around that time....fox body mustang, iroc-z camaro, probably the uglies corvette out of all their generations, dated 3000gt, dated supra...the fact is that the z32 was ahead of its time and set the bar that sent toyota right back to the drawing board for the "new" supra. Aside from that....

"The biggest triumph for the race Z32 was the victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona. In the same year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 300ZX ranked first in the GTS-1 class and 5th overall. In an attempt to level the playing field in the GTS-1 class by reducing the allowable horsepower, the IMSA declared the twin turbo VG engine ineligible."

AND

Awards-

* 1990: The 1990 300-ZX Turbo is named Motor Trend's "Import Car of the Year". Motor Trend also names it, "One of the Top Ten Performance Cars". Automobile Magazine honours the 300-ZX/300ZX Turbo as its "Design of the Year", and names the 300ZX Turbo to its "All Stars" list. Road & Track names the 300ZX Turbo "One of the Ten Best Cars in the World". Car and Driver names the 300ZX Turbo "One of the Ten Best Cars". * 1991: The 300ZX Turbo is named to Car and Driver 's "Ten Best" list, and is once again one of Automobile Magazine's "All-Stars". * 1992: For the third straight year, Car and Driver names the 300ZX Turbo one of its "Ten Best", and Automobile Magazine names it to its "All-Stars" list. * 1993: For the fourth straight year, the 300ZX Turbo is named a Car and Driver "Ten Best", and one of Automobile Magazine's "All-Stars". * 1994: For the fifth straight year, the 300ZX Turbo is named to the "Ten Best" and "All Stars" lists by Car and Driver and Automobile Magazine, respectively. * 1995: For the sixth straight year the 300ZX Turbo is named to the "Ten Best" by Car and Driver. * 1996: For the seventh straight year the 300ZX Turbo is named to the "Ten Best" by Car and Driver, this is also the final year of production in the US.

Even after production stopped magazines have continued to rave and award the 300ZX years later.

* 2004: Automobile lists the Z32 as one of the 100 greatest cars of all time. * 2006: Automobile lists the Z32 on both the "20 Greatest Cars of the Past 20 years" and the "25 Most Beautiful Cars in History".

"once again beautiful, so sleek and tight and shimmering that it still looks great ten years after it went away" -Automobile, 2006

From the year it was introduced, the Z32 has also won many comparison tests against similar sports cars such as the Mitsubishi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth, Mazda RX-7, Chevrolet Corvette, Toyota Supra, Dodge Viper, and the Porsche 968.

I can keep going on about why this car is so great and ive got facts to prove it so the z32 crowd has much to be proud of IMO. Can't speak for the z33's though because if its anyone in the z generation that dosen't know anything about the Z history it would be the z33 owners. I can't count on one hand how many times ive given a thumbs up to a z33 owner and got a stupid reaction or none at all back.

Edit: I picked "Your a prick" because i think pricks a funny word, your not a prick. lol.

i owned a 94 mustang 5.0 with a decent amount of work done....at the time I thought it was a sportscar. then i bought the Z like i always wanted and immediately felt the need to sell my mustang which felt like a old van with worn out struts compared to Z..

z32 definately first sports car in the family for a long time.Z is a name i will always welcome in my garage, and i'd LOVEEE to have a 240z, regardless of rust bucket status. those cars = epic.

a rusted hole through the floor boards = more room to push down the gas

So you're saying that a TT 2+2 isnt a sports car, or '03 Cobra? You're a f***ing idiot.

while i do agree that performance should be the determining factor of what is a sports car. i dont know if calling him a f-ing idiot was appropriate. plus i dont think the cobra is a good example of a sports car. i believe a sports car should be able handle the windies as well as be fast in a straight line just my two cents

IMO it wasn't a true sports car

you really thought the camaro was a sports car? and really didn't know that the miata was? the camaro is a muscle car or a pony car, sporty yes, sports car no

miata, is everyhting that the origional eurpoean sports cars were without the electrical problems and oil leaks

the camero is big and bulky and not built to handle, they have a solid axle for gods sake, the miata is light and nimble and aside from the lack of power and the lack of a fixed roof is everythign the 240z was in it's time, the charm and handeling of the european sports cars wiht the japanese dependability

if the camaro were a spors car then you'd have to include every 4 seat rear drive 2 door, like the lincon LS, the chevy malibu, the ford LTD came in a 3 door is that a sports car?

carol chelby when asked to campaign the mustang by iacoca told hism this is not a sports car, and to make it a sports car they removed the backseat and out in a parcel shelf

and the new cobra ustang still had a sold rear axle, the same rear suspension found on mustangs since early 65, being powerful does not make a sports car, it's being built for sporting purposes and nto for practicality, extra seats and storage makes for a practical car, a sports car by definition is impractical, the 2+2's get a piggyback as they are based on the 2 seat Z, but the G35 is not, it's on par wiht the mustangs, camaro's challangers, IS300, RX8, 325 etc

the argument could be made that they don't have to be rear wheel drive, the berkley was front wheel drive and was a sports car

actually 03-04 cobra is IRS. sports car is a very opinionated and generalized term. a mustang is a mustang though..not a sports car....sports car in my opinion is a car that is built strong all around...quick(not top speed), agile, 2 seats, and so on... and a impractical car for daily driving. i owned a mustang and there is nothing sports car about it...its a daily driver with a little more HP than you typical car..
