When I am using the car's bluetooth system everyone I talk to says they are getting a wicked echo. I have played with some of the volumes with no improvement. It is to the point where I don't use it anymore.

Is it usually this bad for everyone, or am I missing a setting somewhere that can help fix this problem?

What kind of phone do you have. Not all phones internal bluetooth systems work as well as others. I would find someone else with a bluetooth enabled phone and give theirs a try. Make sure your trouble shooting the right component.

If it is your phone there is probably a firmware/software update available for it that could help fix the problem.

didn't occur that it could be the phone. I have a motorola motorazor maxx Ve through Verizon. I haven't tried any other bluetooth gadget with it.

sounds like you don't have this problem then.... anyone else?

I have a Blackberry and Motorola Rzr through Verizon. Both work great. In fact, I have asked callers if they can even tell if I am on Bluetooth. The only way is if I have the car speakers at full volume. If I just go down one notch on volume, it is perfect.Of course, if windows or sunroof are open, you can tell.

There may be an update for the bluetooth, what all it involves I'm not too clear on.

Whoops!if I try to put it in as a URL, it changes. And it seems no matter what I do, it turns into a nico URL, so let's try to fool it! Put all of these together to form a link!

wow, that URL was actually much harder to put together than I thought it would be. That thread was very helpful, I will have to check that out and get back to you.

For a good reason!

At NICO, we do not allow references to competing forums - particularly when we have the information here too (seek and ye shall find!). Please see the FAQ for why!

if this site's search was worth a crap I would agree. I have trouble finding what I need I didn't write down that bluetooth upgrade reference number, so off I go to search in vain for it again. Understand the rule, just wish I would have written that down...

Well ... it is not that bad a search function: zerothread?id=331188. Took me about 30 seconds to find this info. Hope it is what you were looking for.

The specific TSB number is ITB07-036a, by the way.

BTW, we also have Google search within the forum ... look at the upper right of the screen.

Thanks ZI tried the google search, but Google and i don't get along. I am one of the few people on this planet that hate using Google. Feel good that your 30 second search saved me an hour of frustration and ending up where I started

I have a similar problem, but the variation is in the people on the other end. Some people will say that it sounds like total crap and I just take them of bluetooth, while others say I sound fine... I'd really like to fix this problem if possible.

apparentlly there is a fix via the Infiniti dealership which Z linked a conversation about earlier in this thread. I have read on another post that this involves " cutting the headliner" in some manor. When I regained my balance after becoming dizzy thinking about cutting MY headliner I was wondering if anyone had done this "fix", and if so have any pics of their new headliner look.

Does Infinity do this installation for you? Or is this a DIY?

update. finally got my car into the dealer to check this out. I took the paper with the bulletin cover from above (when they still worked) just to let them know I researched it a little. Don't know if that helped or not but he called back and said "there is a bulletin out for this, so we will take care of it." The part is on backorder until Nov. 25th. I will let you know how this looks and works when all is said and done.

Mainly I wanted to thank the community for the right information to get the job done.

You will be happy with the update. I had it done on my 06 M35x and love it. The upgrade looks great and works great.

Same here but nothing a clean white rag and some upholstery cleaner wont fix. One would think that after telling the service writer that you would like no finger prints on your headliner he, would had told the tech, but oh well. She is clean and working great.

Wow -I read this thread a day to late. I just picked my 06 M35x up at the dealer. When i had it in for inspection last time, I told them I received complaints about garbled/echo voice on bluetooth. They said they would "replace the module". I brought it in today and they said they completed it. After reading this thread, I went outside and looked in my cars ceiling. I dont see any new microphone in the ceiling. The only thing above my head is the moonroof. Where would this new microphone go in relationship to the moonroof?

i believe it is under, or just barely behind the sunvisor. There was a pic in this thread, but it appears it is no longer up. Maybe Antz can post the pic again?

If you say the perform the upgrade on your M there is no way you will miss the mic above your head right by the sun visor.

could someone who has gone through the fix post pictures of where the mic is supposed to be? I will post a picture of what I currently have on the 07 M35 Journey when I get the chance. the dealership said they ordered parts, but I have a feeling they didn't order the updated mic unit. I think the 08 models all have the updated unit, correct?

I just checked my car again by the visor and there is no Microphone install that I see. So, I am assuming they did not do the full upgrade for me at this time. I would make sure if you are bringing the car in to get this done that they are doing both the bluetooth module and the microphone.I told the dealer when i got my car inspected I was having trouble keeping my phone paired and people were complaining that they heard an echo of themselves when they talked to me. When I picked the car up after inspection they told me that they were going to order a bluetooth replacement for me. I asked them what it was and they indicated it was a module that goes in the glove compartment or behind the dash. They didnt mention anything about a microphone and I didnt ask for more detail either. So, for those that got the microphone put in, did you get a new bluetooth module as well? The results for me are, after a day, I havent had the phone disconnect automatically but on a call today people heard the echo.Again- make sure your getting both.

I took mine in several times for the exact problem. They tried adjusting the volume input. Then they told me a service bulletin came out and there is a fix. It has worked well since then

You gotta play with the car's volume settings. I had the same problem and after a little experimenting, I got rid of the echo.
