Pretty sure she never said they let random people waltz around or ride bikes.assassin7420 wrote:90% of what she says is fake.
They dont allow people to just waltz around or ride bikes. Trees dont glow their isnt a giant egg you wont melt from going in random buildings. You might die from a pocket of radiation but your not going to melt.
Prypiat. It was also modeled VERY well in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. which also came out last year.Hijacker wrote:And for the CoD4 fans, that was Prepyat (or however you spell it) which was a town on the outskirts of the fallout zone IIRC. From what I understand it's a little easier to navigate around in there, which is why UbiSoft picked it as a level. They even had pictures from the actual town to base some of the buildings off of.
Prypiat was the name of the town, and it was actually closer to ground zero than Chernobyl was. The plant was 9 miles N/NE from Chernobyl itself, and so a "twin" (Prypiat) was built closer to house the workforce for the reactor facility. As for it being on the outskirts of the fallout zone, it was pretty much right in the middle of it.Hijacker wrote:And for the CoD4 fans, that was Prepyat (or however you spell it) which was a town on the outskirts of the fallout zone IIRC. Your friend speaks the truth. Anything lethal is non-lethal when diluted enough...OriginalWheelman wrote:It's getting safe to go there. It has been 21 years. While the radioactive particles are still undergoing decay, the environment processes them the same way it processes anything else. It disperses and breaks them down. Particles are taken away in water run off from rain and the spring thaw. To quote my friend John Doerr, (Former USGS, now a private sector Haz Mat clean up expert) "The solution is dilution."
Oh wow! All I have to say is that MacMillan and Price are ballsy bastardards then. I was always under the impression that Prypiat was further than Chernobyl, but I was wrongEncryptshun wrote:

Was kinda fun reading English written by an Eastern European again, too. Ukrainians and Russians usually speak\write very unique English.bobotech wrote:I read that site a few years ago and found it very interesting as well.
The pictures are amazing.
The funny thing is she easily writes better than 75% of the people on here. There were not many grammatical errors and no spelling errors that I remember. Many people who don't know English as a first language seem to use the word "one" as a noun, like "One can take long rides there on empty roads." It must be common usage in other languages.nchopp wrote:

Very common, actually. Every one of the Ukrainians I went to school with spoke and wrote better English than probably 90% of my American classmates. An accent to be sure, but the grammar was amazing.xekushnr wrote:

Hahaha that's why I die when I try to run away from battles and that damn Geiger counter starts going nuts.Hijacker wrote:

Definitely interesting read though. Pics are sooo eery...xekushnr wrote:Eh, it was still done better in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
