Totally Custom would be best.It would make sure that everything is correct for YOUR car. Not just a generic S chassis.

But with the Skyline X-member you can rock the HKS cas bottom mount mani that I want soooo much.

Because I have top hat mounts. And NO turbo outlet fits my car.

Take a look at what I did:

Oh yeah not running stock turbo anymore.

I'm running a t3/t4 with a Vband adapter and custom DP. That DP was just to get me going.I spent LOTS of time beating the shyt outta that thing lol.

i voted custom. I started with a set of cheap Ebay Top Hat knockoffs so I would have a better idea of how everyone else was doing it. Used them to make my own for different placement of the engine and a much more solid mount. Theyre 3/8" steel and use the stock R33 dampeners.

xmember is the only route to go imho, solid and safe.my engine doesnt move when i rev it ive had stock rb20's try and torque their way out of the engine bay using mount kits.

top hat mounts are ok if you put a solid polyurethane transmission mount in, exhaust fitting is an issue all the way back in the s13

R33 X-member + NISMO isolators FTW!

Stock turbo has about 1/2" clearance from the steering shaft. No complaints.

I agree with Carl H, By the way awesome job on the wiring. Everything works great, i even used the DLC on my scanner to dial in the tach.

i have mckinney's mounts and am very unimpressed. i had to modify them to get my engine into the right position. installing them the way they told me to the hood just touched the engine. i fixed the problem. but for the money that you pay, it should bolt in, line up and properly position the engine. whenever my car is on my lift in front of someone new, i am always asked "those mounts were how much? and they didn't just work?" if i could go back i'd go new crossmember all the way. not a single doubt in my mind.

Stop being cheap and get one made.

I've had "unstable hybrids" aka top hats for about 5 yrs now.

I have had Mckinney mounts for several years and they have worked well. under hard cornering my dp would touch the steering shaft so I ground it slightly and it works fine. The only issue I seem to have now is that my front sway bar isn't clearing in my new chassis. I am just going to build some mounts to lower it a little for clearance.

I'm not impressed with the Top Hat ones. Unfortunately they are now welded in.

I kept the stock R33 crossmember and had no problem with it. Only problem that I ever ran into was the steering shaft, but that was a 10min fix and if you wanted complete clearance it is as simple as just taking off the o2 housing and making a custom down pipe to fit up to the back of the turbo and welding a o2 bung on it.

Had the tophats at 1st then switched to the thicker Mckinney. Didn't have to bash my firewall with the tophats but the Mckinneys I had too. Motor went back more in the engine bay.
