SO, My insurance check finally came through on friday, and it was short by almost $200. I don't even want to get into what a pain in the as$ USAA is when dealing with claims. They can't get the smallest details right.

Anyway, I talked to a guy who was willing to meet on Saturday to check out his ride for sale. It was in Craigslist with no pic, so I wasn't expecting much. I HADTO get a car by Sunday, so the pressure was on. I had no idea I would be coming home with this:

Turns out she was a keeper. I talked him down to $1400, since there were various things needing work or replacement, so I think I got a deal. Check out the mileage!

It needs new fenders in the front cause they have rusted on the bottom bolts, needs a new sunroof cause it is all broken and mickey moused (but the power mechanism still works perfectly), a new passenger side headlight cause it has moisture in it, it has no spare tire, and several of the bulbs are out along with a broken rear side marker.

It also appears to have a vacuum leak I need to find.

Sounds like a decent deal. Congrats on once again having your own vehicle. Gotta feel a bit better than driving that rental civic.

At least USAA will work with you. I've been with them since '83 and have few complaints.

Looks like a nice Sentra project is coming :)

USAA would give me a happy ending if it meant I was happier as a customer. I don't know what Dattebooboo's problems are.

I just got back from Crazy Ray's in Jessup and got a passenger side headlight housing, the rear side marker housing and the A/C relay that was blown.
I hope I pass inspection tomorrow...

That's pretty much what I said when I found it, but I was getting tired of being unable to drive in the winter anyway.
Just FYI, it only has 86K miles on it. That is what finally sold me on it even tho I didn't want it that badly...

Now I have a practical/fun car. I can get the Z later.

They screwed up EVERYTHING they did. The adjuster lied several times, they didn't come out when they said they would, they lied about me not making the car available for inspection, they waited two weeks to get back to me with final numbers despite SEVERAL calls, they lost my tow bill copy, they attempted to stop my rental car before giving me the final numbers, they lied about the check being sent, they took the car before payment had been sent, they shorted me almost $200 on my check and refuse to be polite on the phone.

Sure, I was mad. Sure, I was rude sometimes. But I really think that after all that, I should get some kind of a judgment. I sent a nasty letter to their head office and to the MD state insurance commissioner.

This thing has the smallest gas tank known to man, second only to my lawn mower.

AHEM

Who found it again?

Super glad that you picked this up, even despite the fender issues. It looks super choice. KEEP IT NICE!!! Your cars always seem to end up multi-colored after a few months :gapteeth:

Needs low and some period-correct wheels. Too bad my Black Racings are 4x100 and not x114.3

Can't wait to come see it in person.

Nice find - I think you got a good deal. I'm pretty sure that your car, that particular yeat SE-R was on Car and Drivers top 10 list. I'm surprised that you had a bad experience with USAA, I've had them for 25+ years. They've been outstanding for me.

Good luck and enjoy

This is a huge small car gripe of mine.
Sure, better fuel economy means you save money on gas. But there's more to fuel economy than money. I'd also like to benefit by being able to go longer between fill-ups. 29mpg sounds great, but it doesn't get you very far on 13 gallons. Reduction in fuel tank size in compacts is not proportionate to the gain in fuel economy. You end up with less range per-tank.

B13 SERs are awesome nonetheless.

I wish "more modern gas tanks were honest about where "E" truly exists. It seems that our tank monitors were developed by Independents or something...
I have less than 12 gallons usable to me.

Also, I may have not wanted to get this car, but DAMN is it a blast to drive! The acceleration after 3K rpm is way better than the VG was! Too bad it would lose to the same driver in each.

New electrical demons surfaced, no longer getting it inspected tomorrow. That is all!

I loves the se-r's. Course I'm partial to the NX's...but the Sentras most assuredly look a lot better.
Got a really good deal too. Thicker swaybars, NX2k rotors, some 205's, and a GC coilover setup and it transforms the car from a sweet handling little car to a surgeons scalpel.
Dang...making me miss my NX...
It's one of the better sounding stock 4 cylinders too.

That's what I'm here for, Chris. Bringing clarification to the masses. I guess in your case it would be the sacrament meetings :chuckle:
