Well I got my mechanical fan installed. It was every bit of work I feared it would be. I spent about a week working on it mornings and evenings when it was less than 100 outside. I used the r33 rb fan, clutch, and shroud. I turned the back side of the fan clutch on my lathe to make a hub and flat surface for mounting the fan. I trimmed the fan blades leading edges at an angle on the outer ~2". I made radiator mounts on bottom that are raised and moved forward. This lifted the upper rad tank above the lip on the core support to get another 1/4" of spacing- without cutting anything! I made new upper mounts out of 1/8" aluminum.
The temp is staying under control unless it sits for 10+ minutes with ac on max and outside temp 100+. It crept up to 97* C, but quickly cooled down to 88C once under way. The fan moves so much air at idle it is unreal. I have one 12" pusher still on the driver's side like a factory skyline. The computer is controlling it, so it comes on with ac and if temp is 90+ C.
I tried to find a different better fitting fan and a 91-95 v6 pathfinder fan is a good option if you have a little room. Also I think a v6 xterra fan is almost identical to the stock rb fan.
