Nissan’s CrossCabriolet: Putting the NO in Murano
We also drove and reviewed the CrossCabriolet in 2011 when the first one arrived in Arizona:
Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet First Drive
Fast-forward to the time of year when automakers start planning the rollout of 2014 models...
The good news:
Nissan is not building a 2013 CrossCabriolet.
The bad news:
2014 will see the CrossCabriolet return.
Basically, there are too many leftover 2012's in inventory to even consider building a 2013 version.
The 2014 edition of the Murano CrossCabriolet will start at $41,995 ($2,545 less than the 2012 model). This represents the second consecutive year that Nissan has dropped pricing – In 2012, they cut the price by $1,850 by making the previously standard navigation system an add-on options.
I'm getting a concussion form all the facepalms here... It gets worse.
In 2014, you can get your CrossCabriolet in two new colors - Midnight Garnet and Gun Metallic, and they're redesigning the 20-inch wheels.
Naturally, the engine and CVT drivetrain will remain with no changes.
Now, why the hell they'd bring it back for 2014 is beyond me... it's like an episode of "Punk'd" gone terribly awry.
