I ran 20 psi when I had that dyno run. I was on the dyno again at the end of the year and made 395 @ 19 psi (for some reason it wouldn't boost more on the dyno, probably due to non load bearing)

22 psi on 93 IMO (based off of experience, and speaking with JWT and other prominent Nissan tuners) with a setup like ours is really really really pushing the 93/94 limit (in terms of safety/detonation resistance). YOu could certainly run high octane, but who wants to spend 8 bucks or whatever a gallon for 104 unleaded??

The fuel lines themselves IMO are sufficient, it's just that the pump itself IMO is not. Base fuel pressure is 43.5, so running 20 psi ontop of that puts it near 63.5....and that's why I run twin pumps. I also would strongly advise 'rewiring' the pumps as well (direct wire from battery to the back, in conjunction with a relay).

With that said, you may be able to run 22/23/24 and get away with it, but for how long, and how often is totally unknown. To me, the extra 100ish bucks for the second pump is well worth it.

FWIW: I also have an Aquamist Meth Injection kit being setup over this winter. With that introduced, running 23/24 on track should be totally feasible.

Aquamist totally rocks. The awesome part is, JWT actually can tune a selectable 'water map', that you can click on (from a switch) for track and or street use. It would be working on my car, but stupid me accidentally grounded it out when installing and burned a little diode (that JWT is now fixing for me hehe). I know a lot of FWD with the Aquamist, and they all equally love it.

It's the best insurance IMO you can buy for a high power turbo car that sees alot of street driving. Figure for the cost of the aquamist, you'd go through 5 (+/- 1) tanks of race gas.....that alone is enough to convince me to run it it :D

AMS (the Evo shop) did a Walbro 255 (as well as other pumps) test, and it showed that at high RPM's, through voltage drop, that they really didn't flow as advertised. Haven't duals rewired flows 310-320 combined LPH which is perfect to be a tad safe.

yea hmm. seems liek if you are getting the correct fuel pressure and and A/f ratio you would be good. i dont really want to mess with that other stuff right now.

i just want to get my car running.

yeah ive been looking into aquamist kits for a while and have come to the conclusion that it'll really be worth it on the fc i just dont have a motor yet so i dont have an aquamist yet, haha. my brother was going to put one on his sw20 but sold it before that happened. i didnt realize jwt has a water map, interesting

What trim running codyace 52 or 56 ?

Do you know the difference between the 52 and 56 trim 2871 ?

And your turbo intake where can I buy one like that ? I have the 2871 with 2.75 inlet and need an intake for it.

I made this forever ago, so It may need some tweaking, but for the most part you get the idea.

I have a 56 trim

As far as the intake, it's a custom made intake for the 3" opening on the 2871r (like you should have too). 45 degree 3" sillicone coupler to a 45 degree 3" piece of aluminum, and you're set.

Thanks codyace for the response...

idahotuner:I swear some people dont understand english, and where did you get the 54 trim from, stick to potatoes over there in idaho dude.

I got:

http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=GRT

Turbine-Wheel: 53.85mm w/ 76 trim-Housing: .64 ar

Compressor-Wheel: 71mm w/ 56 trim-Housing: .60 ar

I'm wanting to know the performance difference between the 56 and the 52 trim?

threads like these are invaluable, there's so much R&D in these threads its ridiculous, there is the ocassional BS as well too.

But I try to read and learn as much as I can so my money and time is not wasted, this thread hit on a lot of the questions I had so it's great....

CODY FTW!

I'm trying to figure out how much gain you get from extrude honing the hoising.

Ex. Honing is $200 can that be spent somewhere else and accomplish the same gains ?

Any of the big name brands (at this point) will work the same....Aquamist, SMC, etc etc.

I choose Aquamist due to the fact that Jim Wolf Technology actually suggests to use it, and offers a water injection map in conjunction with the Aquamist setup.

The question has been asked many times on the forum, but never in this tread....I figured it was a good reason for me to post up that little compressor map comparison for everyone to see :D

You have the 48 trim and the 56 trim maps, but you didn't show the 52 trim. Is there a reason you didn't even consider it? Your choice obviously works, but I'm just wondering if the 52 trim might work just a little better? BTW, I plan on copying your setup with a few minor modifications. (tomei cams, custom fabricated intercooler setup, and blow-through Mass Air)

Yea i went last summer. Didn't do very well. It would spin damn near through first and 2nd.

IIRC I ran a 12.6 @ 118 at 17/18 psi. I really need some drag radials for the pig. I don't think it's a bad time considering the car is no where near setup for drag, full option everything, and at the time about 3/4 of a tank of gas hehe.

At the time the 52 trim wasn't available. I was one of the first guys to really get involved with the 2871r .64, as most went to the .86 or 30r's.

On top of that, I don't like the 52 trim either because it retains all of that small OE bolt on stuff. I like the 56 trim due to the nice 3" traditional inlet, as thhe cobra maf and all have a 3" outlet as well.

As far as changing, I really dislike blowthrough setups. They tend to not be nearly as reliable (as the z32 and cobra maf's just don't withstand the blowthrough well). If going with any cam, make sure you're in the low 26x duration...none of that 256 stuff. I'd strongly suggest the JWT S3's, but to each their own.

I tend to agree with you on the compressor housing inlet/outlet configuration. I was wondering about the compressor map, but it looks like it would be pushing into surge right as it hit full boost @ 4k. 56 trim it is, then!

Blowthrough vs. Drawthrough? I've heard valid arguments on both sides of the fence, and as long as the turbo isn't leaking oil, I'm pretty sure I can set it up just fine, and it will allow me to use a TiAL BOV, instead of a recirculating valve... Although, TiAL is coming out with a recirc. valve soon... hmm... Anyway, the reason I am going with the Tomei cams is this: if you check the advertised duration compared to the .050 (or whatever the metric equivalent is) the Tomei cams have a more agressive lobe acceleration, resulting in more area under the curve for the same lobe lift. There are only a couple of their cams that exhibit this behavior, but I believe it to be worth it. (I don't remember which ones off the top of my head since my s13 project has been on a back burner for a while)
