Representative Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ) introduced a bill to cut the pay of all members of congress 5%. Apparently the average pay of Congressmen is about $174,000 per year so lets see that would reduce their pay to $165,300 per year so the pay cut would be $8,700. She said "I'll tell you, there is nothing like asking the people you work with to take a cut in pay and see the concern on their faces,".

Are you fricking kidding me? Our law makers get concerned at the thought of taking a 5% cut in pay? This is utter bulls***. I say they take a 40% cut in pay and be like most other Americans. I mean Hell, taking a $725 per month cut from your $14,500 paycheck is a real sacrifice. That's enough for a cheap hooker for 1 night. We can't be having that. Not to mention they have elite health care insurance plans and other benefits.

I say starting this November we throw some asses out of office. I say anyone in Congress who can't survive on $10,000 per month should go elsewhere for work.

Good for her. Since the Gov in general has had the highest salary growth in the entire nation they should all have to step back.

Someting like that gets introduced and shot down every session. If it gains any traction at all, look for them to hide in the fine print that it is only a temporary reduction and the money they're not taking home now will be paid to them on a deferred basis at a later date.

She may have good intentions but the proposal will be warped beyond recognition by the time it gets out of committee.

I'm sure it will. We need a smaller national Gov and a stronger state-based system where the people fight their own instead of the gluttons in the Capitol.
