Zombie Apocalypse: what's your plan?

Emailing back and forth with a friend. Got onto the subject of zombies. What are you going to do about them?

I happen to own a fair number of swords for theatrical use. I know a few friends who will be heading to my apartment when the zombies start to spread. Sharpen those blades a bit, slaughter, rinse, repeat.

If the zombie apocalypse was to occur there would be mass chaos and panic creating riots and such. This means all order will be lost throughout the world. This is where I would stock up on all sorts of weapons and learn to use each and everyone that is if I don't get killed. As I master these weapons I would most likely find a house that is secluded, near water and near food. I would also need access to gas and certain vehicles, most likely SUV's because they seem most practical. I could go on for pages about this, it's stuff like this I think about in my free time.

I think when considering a true "Zombie Apocalypse" We first have to determine what caused the zombies to come to be. I dont think anyone will be rising from the grave, I dont think shuffling, brain eating invalids are a threat. A true zombie apocalypse would be caused by a virus, think super-rabies.

How would this Virus Spread? Mucus, Airborn, Std? I would go with mucus, the same way rabies, the common cold, and many other virus' are spread. If this virus caused enough damage to the brain to cause violent outbursts, it would also eventually kill the host, think rabies. Staying clean would be of the utmost importance, the best way to stay clean would be to get away from people, as far away as you can.

That said, how would you get away, if it hit quickly there would be absolute anarchy, the infected would blend in with the crowds of panicked soccer moms trying to loot the grocery stores. I would personally grab the canned and dry goods from my house and head to a sporting goods store. I would pay close attention to grabbing propane, water bottles, more dry goods, tents, fishing/hunting equipment. I own weapons, but I dont think its going to be an all out kill-fest, grab light, easy to carry weapons that can be used for protection or hunting. Grab as much ammo as you feel comfortable carrying, don't weigh yourself down too much, and get the hell out of dodge.

Now that you have left the major metro area, head someplace remote. On your way out of dodge, stop to refuel whenever it is available, also steal liquor and chocolate and tobacco (They make great forms of currency). If you are lucky enough to live on a coast, head out to sea. Get ready to spend alot of time with a small group of close freinds and family, or by yourself.

Just like any Virus, it will come in waves, how long they will last and how long between will be up to you to figure out. Trust no stranger, in a situation like this a little old lady would shoot you for a bottle of water. Watch your group closely, if anyone appears ill, they have to be quarentined. In between waves of the virus, or when things have calmed down a little, loot as much as possible, don't get shot while doing it. I think if this happened, you would be fighting as many wandering healthy people as you would be killing zombies.

Then wait them out until they starve.Most Zombie's in various movies seem to stupid to open cans so I will just wait the 2 weeks it takes them to deplete their glycogen and fat stores.when they are dead (and most humans too) I will live off canned food for alooong time ...

If it happened, grab a couple select buddies, good with weapons, take the truck, head up to bass pro shop and stock up on weapons and ammo, gun specific shops and walmart will be the first places that the masses will head to. Get to the grocery store early, dont mess with perishables. Set up camp at a battery plant, or collect a bunch of both sealed and unsealed batteries and and set up camp at sturdy, fenced building with a good roof . After the first wave is over, make our way to AZ to meet up with hopefully uninfected gun buddies down there, hopefully virus has a harder time in the drier, desert enviroment. Ham radio will be your friend when the power grids go down. Will satellite phones go down with the power grids? I don't know how many 'middle men' the transmission goes through aside from the satellites...

This really depends a lot on the nature of the virus. Some are not as easily carried by insects. It would also depend on the size dose required to fully infect a full-grown human.

I do like the battery plant idea, but it would depend on the security and layout at said plant. Plenty of non-perishable food, bottled water and weapons/ammo would be required. You'd probably have time to stock up too, as even some of quickest viruses to spread will take time to infect large populations. Then, if it looks like all is lost I would take my own life.

I would go to scotty cranmers house (he lives in the same town as me) and steal his 700hp r32 and go to a airport and have some fun.

But what I would really do is I would is go to six flags and chill in there for a couple of weeks.

If I woke up one morning to find out everyone was a zombie, I'd grab my parents (if they were still human) and my dog, bring them into the garage (all metal and cement) and stock up the garage with supplies that I have. Then Id make sure we were safe as possible, get in my dad's tahoe and go to the GM dealer in town. Id take a suburban 2500 (more room and powerful), take out the rear seats and first head to the police department. Here I would stack up on weapons, and then head to the supermarket where I would get food. After that Id buid base at home, covering the windows up and putting flood lamps everywhere like in I am legend.

I take it none of you have read the Zombie Survival Guide? If not I highly suggest going to your local book store and picking it up. It covers every type of scenario and zombie type, as well as different strategies based on terrain, weapon type, and number of people in your party. Personally I would stock up on several long range, short range, and melee weapons, food, and supplies/ammo and head towards the nearest port, once there I'd board the largest ship I can find and head out to sea, the deeper the water the better. Zombies can't swim, they can just walk along the bottom, if it's deep water they can' reach the ship. Any zombies on board will be eradicated and thrown over board, anyone infected will meet the same fate. Once all supplies have been exhausted you just sail towards the nearest port or ship and resupply.

I've read the Zombie Survival Guide. I keep it handy, right next to my old Boy Scouts Handbook and my extra ammo. I'll load up the truck, grab my shooting hat and a few trusted friends, and head out to the country. Hold up in a house that's defensible and wait it out.

Then, if I'm still normal, quickly find some hills and live in a f***ing tree and live off plants. Damn life is gonna suck.

Im stocking up with what I have and need. I have reliable weapons and enough ammo to at least collect more ammo and supplies. Speedy already mentioned it, but propane and fishing supplies, hepa filter or two, blah blah blah. I wouldn't so much pack light, but very heavily in a vehicle as best I can with what close friends/family I have. From there I would steal a large yacht or boat with sails AND an onboard AND a small aluminum boat if supply trips must happen. I live close to the great lakes, so that's where you'll find me.
