Does anyone have any experience with this product? It is very expensive ($350 for the outside only), but is it worth it? I looked for reviews but most of them were a few years old. I have a black M45 that I would like to have professionally detailed, just not sure if this is the route to go.

Thanks for any input or advice

personally I stay away from all that stuff --- teflon, polySeal, GlazePro, every few months there's a new snake oil for your paint and it's always about $300 to $500.

Best bet is to have your car detailed and have them clay bar it first and then use a good hand paste wax (carnuba based?). I figure you can get that done several times for the cost of one application of this other stuff.

Read the fine print on the "super wax jobs" -- you usually have to take the car back in once a year or every 6 months for a "re-application" or something. You miss that appointment and your "warranty" is void.

But you do what you feel is best -- it's your car and your money!

Paint Sealants have come a long way in the last 10 or 15 years and they have gotten to the point now where they are fairly easy for anyone to apply and you don't need a specialized "sealant" dealer. Chemical Guys has a very good product called "JetSeal 109". It is basically a spray on / wipe off product. The only catch is that your paint surface must be perfectly clean so you would need to strip all the old wax off (wash with dawn dishwashing liquid) and clay bar the surface before applying the product. Once applied you then put a good quality wax over top of it. The sealant should last a year.

M45Caliber is right... $350 for this stuff is worng. For $350 you can purchase a porter cable 7424 with extra pads and the a nice line of poorboys & menzerna products.

I own a black car, so I understand what you are after. The process you want to follow for a black car is:

Wash CarClay Bar (Pinnacle brand)Tape off you head lites,chrome/plastic edges Compound (3M extra cut) <---optional depending paint conditionPolish (Menzerna SIP & Nano) <-- most important part of the processSealant (poorboys brand)Glaze (poorboys black hole) <---optional.. this glaze is strictly for black carsWax(poorboys nattys blue paste) <--- damn good stuff

All this stuff can be found here and they also have a good forumhttp://www.autogeek.net/

If you pay someone to do this job the right way it will run you in excess of 600+

Thats good. Did I miss something or did he not mention steps/equipment and techniques. I have to agree about the polishing. If done correctly with a good rotary polisher and prep work you can do magic.

I recommend the Zaino products highly. The product transforms (with elbow grease) the look of any car - makes older cars looks awesome again.

Pictures of my old Q45 are here on the site that show the results.

Shane,

You should bring your car over. I can do it for you.

Let me know.
