I have a 2002 Q45. I just recieved the 6.5 Navigation DVD from Zenrin, and much to my surprise, I see the words Navteq on the packaging in several places.

Also, my somewhat rural area is now mapped out, even though the online tool at the Zenrin site said it wasn't going to be.

I'm going to look for some more rural areas tomorrow to see if coverage is indeed by Navteq.

Anyone else have a similar experience with the 6.5 maps?

Mike

Thought I would report back..

I've checked some other areas in Georgia that the Zenrin website definitely shows as not covered, and I am reliably finding detailed address level mapping in those areas.

Funny too that I looked on the Zenrin website for any mention of Navteq and could not find any, although it is plainly marked on the DVD.

Either way, I am more than pleased with the 6.5 upgrade. It has made the Navigation system actually usable.

As we natives know Georgia has many areas that are not really part of US.

But we Fargoans can still find 'em!

"NAVTEQ, a publicly traded company, is headquartered in Chicago, IL, USA with approximately 2,000 employees worldwide. With a regional European headquarters located in Veldhoven, Nederlands, a major production facility in Fargo, North Dakota, USA, and support centers in Seoul, South Korea, Mexico City, Mexico and in Yokohama, Japan, NAVTEQ is located in 144 offices in 60 countries."

We employ a lot of cartographers here.

Hello,Just curious, what does the the update do to make it useable? My car is an 04' so I do not know how much difference, if any, there is between the '02 and '04. I have been seriously thinking about upgrading and am glad to hear you are pleased(somewhat) with the update.CheersMark Linkous

Nothing really to the nav system itself (although it came with a CD that did a software update), just to the underlying map and POI data.

By usable, I meant I could now venture out being relatively certain that the system would have coverage.

What version are you on now with your '04?

Mike,Thanks for your reply. I am not sure as to the version. I went to the Zenrin site a while ago and saw the 6.5 update. In Florida, there has only been one instance of there not being coverage. (Cape Coral, Fl). Hope Atlanta/Woodstock cools off soon BTW. I really miss Georgia and my beloved Bulldogs. Thanks AgainMark

Hi Mark!

Go Dawgs!

The heat this summer has been worse than ever. You walk outside and it literally sucks the air out of your lungs.

You can find the version of the software by looking at the DVD itself.

I know the heat is absolutely disgusting. Hard to believe S.W Florida is cooler this time of year. But it is. I cannot wait to go to a few home games this year. I love Athens so much. As for the Harrington era Falcons, I think there will be a massive single malt upswing on Sundays. Saturday too if we keep losing to Vandy. Hell that might require something alot stronger.Go DawgsMark
