Diamond was just reading back through this thread and saw this...they probably only wired 1 voice coil because the amp you were running had better rating (stable) with a higher resistance load. If you were running a bridged set-up...a lot run more stable at 4 ohms. Im betting each coil was 4 ohms and the difference in sound if you wired both would be minimal to none so they went the safe route rather than take the load to 8 or 2 ohms.DiamondWVU wrote:
yeah i know. I bought those subs, a different box, that amp, and a capacitor off my friend for $220. Too bad the shop only connected one of the voice coils when they installed them in the box.
But I went through a lot of trouble to get this particular sub. My previous ride had a single 12" Alpine Type-X and that just didn't sound as good as I wanted (though it got decently loud). Two subs will almost certainly hit louder though (with twice the cone area, they move twice the air). But I couldn't afford to sacrifice the whole trunk to put two twelves in (tens don't get deep enough for me personally). So I went with one insane 12. I'll probably never go back to a two sub setup, but part of that is because I don't think I'll ever have a car with an electrical system capable of powering two UL12s.DJBeasy wrote:does that single sub bang enough?
Same here, have a useless Power Wedge now. Theres actually a user on here who has the same box and they have pics of it in the AC trunk...or should I say what used to be the trunk.AppleBonker wrote:

Im actually going 2 12"s to 2 10"s with the Zenclosures box and completely new subs (CHEAP, budget is tight right now, almost embarassed to say what I bought)...I think Im going to regret it.AppleBonker wrote:
If you're making the move from two twelves to one, just be careful that you don't try to set the gain to high and blow the sub.
