Here's the deal. I have an XFX 7900gs. This card has massive overclocking potential, factory clock is 525 in many cases people have OC'd it 700+. But the stock fan/heatsink sucks.
So what i'm doing is offering a review of a Zalman vid cooler. First off, i bought the cooler off ebay. It was listed as being one of these.http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/pr...e=013I'd read good reviews about this cooler, and the price was about half of what newegg wants.
What i actually got in the box was this.http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/pr...e=013 Not much difference in layout, but it looks AWESOME!! and for what i paid it was a steal. It seems that all the auctions from this user for the Vf900 are actually fatal1ty coolers.... so if anyone wants one search ebay, or contact me i'll give you the seller name.
On to the performance:
Installation is really simple. Just make sure that you slowly tighten down the mounting nuts, and crisscross them to not crack the processor. Longest part of install was cleaning the old thermal grease off the GPU.Temp Differences. Recently It's been really hot in NY, so my card was running 55C idle ~ 130 F67c load ~ 152 f
same conditions with this cooler i now run. This is also only the second day, so the thermal compound should "break-in" and run a little cooler in a couple more days.41c idle ~ 105 f47c Load ~ 116 f
In the dead of winter when my room is freezing cold i usually would get 44-45 c idle. Winter Load was usually 52 or thereabouts. So this cooler made a HUGE difference. Also the fan is adjustable. It's set on the low side and i can't hear it at all.
If anyone wants one, check the compatibility list and get on ebay!
