Ok i have been trying to search this answer but couldnt really find anything. All I found is some guys talking about all motor power. Anyhow I want to install the Z32 Air flow Meter and a Z32 Fuel Pump, as well as the Z32 throtle body and fuel injectors. Now i know the MAF of Z32 will fit the stock KA24DE, but what about the fuel pump and everything else. And will it make any noticeble horse power. Now will I need to get the Apexi AFC or anything esle for this upgrade? Anyother suggestions or comments please welcomed. If you think this is stupid let me know.

i *believe* you need a ECU re-write to get the Z32 MAF working correctly...-chet

i *believe* you are absolutely correct.

if you're staying n/a, you won't need larger injectors, and isn't the KA throttle body larger than the Z32's?

Yeah youll be going from a 60mm iirc to a 53mm :) See the z32 uses a 53mm TB for each 1.5 liter bank of 3 cylinders... Hell the KA TB is an upgrade for the single TB 3.0L vg30et in the z31...

Youll notice no gain by using a larger maf, as the KA one flows enough for your current NA needs. The FPR takes care of the pressure in the line, enough so for thew stock injectors, thus a more powerfull pump wont do anything as well.

As for the injectors on a stock KA, well itll produce less power as well, even with a z32 fuel pump... The 270's flow enough again for your current NA KA needs, dumping more fuel with out getting more air will just make you run rich. This wastes fuel, and lowers performance....

Invest in parts that are known to increase air flow and performance (cams - SM intake manifold - head work - and so on) then worry about fuel "if" you start running lean...

Thank you, My point was that I dont want to touch the KA motor alot just few hundread bucks, because im doing the SR swap in about a year, I really dont wanna go all out and change the compression ratio and change the cams and rewrite the ecu for no reason, because that would be just a waist of money. I just thaught the MAF and FPR would do something, but i guess Ill spend the money on the suspension instead. I work in an auto shop so I do everything myself and its free :), I was just looking for some cheap engine mod for a little while. Any suggestions?

Get yourself a set of S13 240-248 cams for 100$ and under, for a nice improvement over the s14's anemic ones which are 232-232.

I ran the 240-248 and prefer the 248-232, which isnt that difficult, just requires that you take an s13 exhaust cam place it on the intake side and rotate it on the chain 4 teeth, then you put your stock s14 exhaust cam into the exhaust side. You can find a single cam at the yards for 20$ - 50$ and the set from 40$ - 100$. A set on the boards goes for 100$ and if you just use the stock s13 cams it drops right in.

It will help the upper end considerably, in and of itself, with no other tuning / mods required to get it to work.... Think about it.

Im picking up another 248 cam for 22$, and will just drop it in the exhaust side (as Ive done the hard part), thus giving me a 248 (retarded 1.7°)-248 setup, or a nissan motorsports cam setup for a total of 72$ vs 400$. If I dont like it Ill sell off the spare s13 exhaust cam with my spare s13 intake cam and still make my money back, so no harm.

Like anything on the 240sx, its a rediculously easy affair to swap cams...

I have also built up my suspension rather nicely and am awaiting funds so that I can fabricate my own rod end peices. Plus the SCCA class im in now, I have done most of what I can tuning wise for suspension parts. Untill I finish this season off I dont think Ill be jumping out of class, and plus I need the seat time to be competitive in the upper class. I may not be the fastest, or even close to the fastest, out there, but Ive never been pulled on or pushed around any highway on / off ramp :)

Put money into the suspension and brakes if you plan to swap as with the extra power youll need more controll, its just common sense.

Hmm sounds very interesting, but when you say S13 cams? Do you mean the SR20 cams or the KA24DE 1991-1994 240SX cams?

I thaught all KA24DE have same motor, did not think cams changed or do you mean the KA24E motor? Please explain, now as far as I understood you, I would have to take the S13 exhaust cam and place it on the intake side rotate 4 teeth, and leave the original exhaust cam on its side?

Of course KA24DE, as this isnt the ess are forum...

S13 (91-mid 93) had 240-248 cams.S14 (95-98) had 232-232 cams.

For and instant and hassle free gain in HP, just take out your s14 cams and drop in the s13 ones.. Check for valve lash and if all checks out your good to go.

The reason I went 248-232 was because of my other reasons. Slightly crisper mid, over the stock s13 setup (pulls hard 500 rpm sooner, mid is good for auto-x), with out loss in the upper end, and produces a quieter exhaust tone.. I wanted to try it and only had one exhaust cam, but now that I have and like it I can swap in another 248 exhaust cam in no time, giving me a nissan motor sports cam duration.

There is info on here, and I basically wrote a step by step on freshalloy.com (search "248-232" or "96_S14_SE") if you are a member...
