Get yourself a set of S13 240-248 cams for 100$ and under, for a nice improvement over the s14's anemic ones which are 232-232.
I ran the 240-248 and prefer the 248-232, which isnt that difficult, just requires that you take an s13 exhaust cam place it on the intake side and rotate it on the chain 4 teeth, then you put your stock s14 exhaust cam into the exhaust side. You can find a single cam at the yards for 20$ - 50$ and the set from 40$ - 100$. A set on the boards goes for 100$ and if you just use the stock s13 cams it drops right in.
It will help the upper end considerably, in and of itself, with no other tuning / mods required to get it to work.... Think about it.
Im picking up another 248 cam for 22$, and will just drop it in the exhaust side (as Ive done the hard part), thus giving me a 248 (retarded 1.7°)-248 setup, or a nissan motorsports cam setup for a total of 72$ vs 400$. If I dont like it Ill sell off the spare s13 exhaust cam with my spare s13 intake cam and still make my money back, so no harm.
Like anything on the 240sx, its a rediculously easy affair to swap cams...
I have also built up my suspension rather nicely and am awaiting funds so that I can fabricate my own rod end peices. Plus the SCCA class im in now, I have done most of what I can tuning wise for suspension parts. Untill I finish this season off I dont think Ill be jumping out of class, and plus I need the seat time to be competitive in the upper class. I may not be the fastest, or even close to the fastest, out there, but Ive never been pulled on or pushed around any highway on / off ramp
Put money into the suspension and brakes if you plan to swap as with the extra power youll need more controll, its just common sense.
