Just bought a 1991 Nissan 300zx twin turbo and I was told only some vacuum lines were stolen and the car still does run but it just doesn’t idle right. Now after some research it appears some other things are missing in the engine bay. Mainly the vacuum lines are confusing because I can’t find where they’re supposed to go. If I post some pictures could y’all help me out ASAP please?

Here’s a video where I show the engine bay and all the missing vacuum lines > https://youtu.be/1BXv0FJ2bv0
Anyone notice what else could be missing?

Thanks! This helped me out a lot however, I found out a previous owner had rerouted many of the vacuum lines due to different deletes he did in the engine bay. So far the mechanic i've brought the car to can't figure out what may be causing the rough idle and what sounds like a misfire due to the ecu swap overriding certain error codes. Seems like I'm screwed.

Unless the mechanic has experience with the Z32, he'll struggle a bit... at least until he does his research. I also recommend researching on your own - you'll learn a lot about the car. The FSM is definitely good, and I also recommend expanding your inquiry wider on the internet.

Robo's site is a really good reference...and a good read (although I found his vacuum line rework for the carbon canister delete was different than mine - '91 v. '92, I suppose):

I used Robo's write-ups for my guides when I did the AIV, PRVR and Carbon canister deletes (my '91 was nearly stock when I bought it nearly a year ago). These deletes are very common mods that a lot of people seem to do to either (1) resolve existing or (2) eliminate potential vacuum leak issues... and just to de-clutter.

....just looked at your video. As we both have '91s, I'll see if I can grab some pictures showing these lines as they're connected post-deletes. I'll try to grab them this evening.

After looking yet again, your fuel system plumbing has a bit more deleted than mine - fuel damper, specifically. It’s a part that’s attached to the PS open end of your hard fuel line near the balance tube (would normally have a hose in there as well, which you’re also missing).

That being said, pictures of my connections will probably not help. I’d search and look for images where people have deleted the fuel damper. Maybe there’s something to it, but I’m not sure why someone would do that anyway (beyond my limited experience). Taking that damper out forces some significant plumbing changes.

Best bet is to find a Z32 specialist and have him clean that up or at least get you running better. If someone hasn’t been through something like this before, they’ll really struggle with it. Where are you located? If you’re anywhere in the mid-Atlantic region, Bernie Bilski is THE MAN and has probably seen it all - he’s in Alexandria, VA. He’s easy to get in touch with on twinturbo.net.

Best of luck man... some things on this car will be painful, but when she’s running good, it’s totally worth it.
