Hey everyone, I just purchased a z32, this is my second one. My first was an NA so I just filled up with 91 and I was fine. The one I just got is a TT and it is tuned for 93 octane at 16lbs of boost. It has the sport 500 turbos and 555cc injectors. Sadly I didn't think about this, and I only have 91 octane available locally. Would I be fine running 91 octane with some octane booster? Or what are my options? The guy I bought it from says he can call who tuned it at get a 91 octane chip. Would that be the best route? Or won't that cause me not to be able to run 16lbs due to the lower octane gas? Thanks in advance for the help!

yeah, go ahead and take to the time and do it right. Get that chip changed out. IIRC the "octane booster" is alcohol. And besides, are you willing to let it miscalculate and run lean/rich? If it was me I wouldn't chance it and just wait the few weeks and swap em out.

Thanks for the help. I dont actually have to drive it, i have another vehicle. I got in contact with the previous owner and he said he would try and get ahold of whoever made the first chip for it and have one made for the 91 octane. Since I can only use the 91 does that mean i will just not be able to run as high of boost?

As far as I know, when a chip is made tuned for a certain octane, that octane gets taken into account throughout the power/rpm range. Yes, going balls to the wall with it using lower octane will probably cause knock/detonation. Taking it easy should allow it to be driveable, but its always best to tune for like 91 if thats all you can get near you. So even if you tune for 91 you can put 93 in it without issue, but not the other way around. Z1 had a sale over the holidays for chips, $100 each.
