I know its been done and been talked about. I know you have to buy a adapter plate kit. I know it doesnt handle as much power or whatever. My z32 is na. I have a 350z tranny laying around. My car has alot of play in the shifter. Not looking for higher speed not looking for more acceleration mainly looking to lower rpms on the throughway. 80mph at above 3k is a bit to high for my taste. Main question i have that i cant seem to find info on is will the stock 300zx driveshaft or the stock z33 driveshaft fit with the z33 tranny. Or do i have to have one made

You will not gain any rpm (lower cruising rpm) with a 350z 6 spd. Both top gears are very similar; if you want better gearing for cruising you need to swap out the diff. and go to a lower ratio ie 3.69 etc.

Much more cost effective and easier to swap in a 1997-2001 q45 diff. Be warned, acceleration to 80 mph absolutely sucks with the NA and 3.69 diff. I think my older Toyota Corolla was faster in hiway passing.

Definitly would prefer not to loose alot of acceleratiom as its already fairly slow. I always thought the 6th gear is a cruising gear which is why the 350z stays at such low rpms on highway. But ok another question would be is it possible to swap a rear diff from a 350z into the 300zx without major mods. I have rear diff driveshaft axles tranny wheels etc laying around in my garage collecting dust from my old 350z and i would rather use stuff if possible to just make it slightly better highway. Plus the 300zx tranny seems to get rather hot for my taste as well

The 350z has low cruising rpm is because the 350z diff (3.54)is even taller than the TT /q45(3.69)diff. (Remember the NA 300ZX is 4.09 ratio.) Therefore even slower acceleration.

I’ve seen a bolt kit that allows you to bolt up the 350z diff (r200/v) to a 300ZX Na sub frame but people that do this , have TT swapped the engines with significant horse power increase. Here is the link to the kits.

Maybe swap both 350z trans and diff with a custom drive shaft???? The only other issue I see is speedometer offset if you change the final drive ratio of the car.

Hope that helps,
Peter

That definitely helps that was my other limiting factor is idk how hard / expensive it is to get somoene to do custom drive shaft so was hoping that stock drive shaft fit.

A custom driveshaft will be the easiest part of this swap by far.

Honestly I would just do the 97-01 Q45 diff swap.. Granted I wouldn't do this mod at all as I think even at 80 MPH the N/A z32 gets pretty good MPGs despite the RPM being where they are.. 26-28 MPG would be likely after you do the Q45 rear end though
