I got my Z32 front rotors today. My dilema however is that I am using the 30mm z32 calipers, so i need the rotors to go with that size caliper. I ordered the right year rotors and everything but the rotors i got today say 28mm on the side of them. Is this right? Shouldnt they say 30mm, or are the rotors supposed to be smaller than the caliper meaning my 28mm rotors are the correct size?

Did these people send me the wrong rotors or are the the right ones?

thanx guys

I personally have the 30mm setup and when I got my rotors they asked me 28 or 30 and I ordered 30's. I'll check it for ya and post unless someone does it for me

But its 26mm calipers is the other options. 28 doesn't make sense.

Q45 rotors are the same diameter as Z (11" I think), but are 28mm thick.

They dont make a z32 26mm caliper they only have 28 or 30mm and the shop that i talked to says and i quote 28 to 28 and 30 to 30and no difference, when you order rotors lets say from nopi they will ask you 28 or 30 thats what they asked me.

28mm is the min thickness for the rotors in the 30mm setup.

the 26mm setup has a 24mm min thickness.

the second to last page of the brake section shows the dimensions and the last page shows the wear limits. http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi

The box and the receipt for my rotor's say 30mm and the brake calipers are 30mm so whatever happened there who knows, they work so....put the 28's on there and if they dont work then you are out how much ever you paid for them. Trial and error I think that there is a previous thread of this topic, its under z-32 brake conversion i think....

Z32 brakes come in 26mm and 30mm. Q45 brakes are 28mm.

The 2nd to last page of that FSM shows rotor thickness as 26mm and 30mm.

If you have 30mm Z32 calipers, you need 30mm rotors. If you have 26mm Z32 calipers, you need 26mm rotors. If you have 28mm Q45 calipers, you need 28mm rotors.

I just called sports brakes... they said brembo (the rotors i ordered) didnt make 30mm rotors for the nissan 300zx. They said the 28mm ones they sent me are the ones brembo makes for the 300zx 30mm calipers, and they said something about it actualy being 30 even though it says 28 on it, but i measured it and its 28. I HAVE 30mm z32 calipers....and brembo 28mm rotors...will these work, and last?

if it says 28 on it it should be a 30mm rotor. what did you use to measure it?

Yea i remeasured and sure enough they are 30mm thick. But i still dont understand why Brembo would write 28mm on the side of a 30mm rotor

that way a mechanic will be able to easily check the min thickness on the rotor. not every shop has every FSM on hand.

Regulations require minimum rotor thickness to be stamped on rotors.......1mm wear per face allowed before replacement [on front]. Usually 1mm total on rear solid rotors [Q45].

Wear limit is there to remind lathe operators to not retrue them IF there is not enough material left after the cut.

Really a function of rotor wear [1mm] and pad wear [7mm] limits so that the caliper piston seals don't get over extended [beyond] design limits and leak. Probably some safety margin in addition to 8mm total wear as we have seen cars worn down to [and into] pad backing plate [no friction material left at all] with worn out undersized rotors...........and the calipers didn't leak.........function of seal age probably.

Whenever buying used calipers good idea to reseal the pistons and clean up the bores!
