so I was out looking at a couple 240sx's and a dealer had a 1992 300zx 2+2 non turbo with only 62,000 miles on it. Now i ussually research my cars alot before i look into buying one but enver gave thought to a z32. My questions are whats the differences between a 2+2 and just the coupe? Is there a change in wheelbase standard options anything? also whats the differences between the vq30de and the vq30dett internal wise? is it possible to jsut slap on turbos and go or are there major internal differences. and last whats the stock weight on these cars. Sorry i know i could research most the stuff but i have class and am going to have to buy this car tomorrow if i want it to stay around as i've already dealed down to 6000 out the door.

2+2 main differences are the wieght, wheelbase and overall length, besides the obvious- 2 more seats. there are some pretty key differences in the motors; too many for me to remember acurately (one is the compression ratio of the TT's being lower than the NA's) but the important thing is NO! you can just bolt up turbos, if that were the case i would have done it a while ago . the wieght depends on the specific model and all but its somewhere around 3300-3600ish. keep in mind that the timing belt should be changed at 60,000 miles so if it hasnt been on that car then plan on either paying A) 500+ bucks for some place to do it right, or B) 300ish and a lot of time to do it yourself right. hope that helps

compression on a vg30de is like 11 something to 1 and on the vg30dett it's 8 something to 1.

the 2+2 is longer and *heavier* and might have slightly cheaper insurance. i think it might have a longer wheelbase. people don't really just slap turbos on them. most people will buy the twin turbo model or do a twin turbo conversion where you swap in a vg30dett and maybe change trans/diff, etc.

stand by for more info from other people. gorgeous car.

well i paid that for my NA with 106,000 miles (but I had already sold my other car so it only ended up being like 2000 out of pocket)

i have a 2+2 i did the twin swap into it. yes it's approx 300lbs heavier. nine inches longer and yes 1 inch wider. this is out of the owners manual. you can spot one quickly because the fuel tank cover sits rear of the rear wheels. the 2 seater is forward of the rear wheels. the only performance advantage of the 2+2 is smoother ride and better high speed turning stability. all do to wheel base being longer. the 2+2 fuel tank also sits rear of the rear tires. not the best place for weight. you want all the weight to be between the tires for better handling balance. but unless you plan on running your z at the nurburgring the 2+2 is perfectly stout. set up for street use. and if your like me and like fast touring cars. like the bmw m6.. just do the swap and enjoy the ride.

i'm very happy with the results.

Well from the sound of it, your interested in boost. Dont shell out 6K for an NA, only to kick your own *** later on. If you are serious about a TT, you can find one fairly easily in the 7-8K range. Not much more than what your willing to buy the 2+2 for.
