Hey, just recently installed a pop charger onto my Z. It's been getting kinda cloudy & drizzly around my area & i'm a little concerned about my filter sucking up water. Will i be fine, or is it possible? Should i remove my pop charger or just not drive with it in the rain?

The general consensus is that regular rain won't have any effect, but going through deep puddles will. It helps alot to have the stock (or upgraded) splash shields in place. Try to avoid going through puddles, especially through deep ones. If you went through a deep enough puddle, yes you could hydrolock the engine. It would have to be deep enough to submerge the front end up to the pop charger filter.

You will be just fine IF you have your factory splash shields intact. I feel like most people dont though. I think they are very important though. IF you dont have your shields, beware of the puddles as it can very easily get the MAF wet and make the car act funny.

You can just make a splash shield out of thin aluminum or stainless can't you?

Yes you can, and it will be alot cheaper than the OEM one.

that K&N DryFilter seems like a good idea for a little added water protection

Damn that's good thinking. I might end up doing that to mine. I'm assuming that it doesn't restrict airflow too much at lower speeds or they wouldn't be suggesting it

Nah, shouldn't. It's mostly for the high speed turbulence that can freak the maf out

It works great to keep the maf from getting crazy readings and provides a small amount of water protection.

I definitely think I'll be doing this mod when I have my front end apart
