i got a pair front and rear calipers they came from a r33 or r32 mid 90's mode from a friend in oki japan any ways he say they are z32 and they are alum 30mm. i got them about a week ago but the calipers look like ****, well rusty i want to clean them up and rebuilding them, by sand blating and then getting power coated but i thinking about the sand blasting part if is going to mess them up, they are broken down into the 8 pieces

so should i sand blast them?and where can i get new piston, seals, boots, clips and o rings to rebuilding them?

you could clean them up with a wire brush and some WD or brake cleaner.

If you sand blast just cover the pistons you should be fine.

I think that some of our sponsors offer the caliper rebuild kit. check those first.

I have no idea what you're trying to say in the first part. You have calipers from a skyline but they are from a 300 and they're aluminum but rusted...and the 4 calipers are somehow in 8 peices? What the f man?

Yes sand blast them plenty of people have done it. Search around, like anti-flag said sponsors probably sell them.

I don get the skyline or z32 part, but it makes sense that they are in 8 pieces. Each one has 2 halves. Do not lose the O-rings that go between the 2 halves of the calipers. They do not come in the rebuild kit, and you will have to go to the hardware store and try a bunch of different ones if you lose them. I know from experience.

They definately do come apart. Undo the 4 long bolts that hold each half together.

I don't know what you're smoking but you made me go double check just to be sure and they're definitely 1 pc. No bolts at all unless you're talking about the pins in the pad assembly.

Maybe the OP is talking about PADS...Those would be in 8 peices and rusty...cause I've never seen aluminum rust lol.

If they are aluminum then they shouldn't be rusted. Also if they are aluminum don't sand blast them because that wrecks havoc on aluminum, it smears the metal and could f something up. If they are steel then it's ok to sand blast. If they are aluminum then you will need some chemical paint stripper.

Just my opinion.

Clawhammer, take another picture of the calipers from the back. I just finished taking apart and rebuilding a set. Look at this guide on rebuilding them that is posted in the tech section.

If you don't know what you are talking about, don't knock on people that actually know what they are saying, please and thank you.

Man your confusing everyone . take the calipers apart(8 pieces) send the calipers to get sandblasted for powder coat, while waiting for calipers order the rebuild kit from a sponsor, need to order pistons not included in rebuild kit expensive like $35 ea., also order up some SS brake lines. After a week pick up calipers then start rebuild.

****IMPORTANT****DO NOT LOSE THE O-RINGS BETWEEN THE CALIPER HALVES

Ah, finally a guy who knows what he is talking about. You generally don't need to order new pistons unless the ones you have are mega busted though. They clean up really well, and it isn't that hard. I lost a couple of the orings and didn't really care until I realized they weren't in the kit.

Yeah you're right sorry for the confusion. That's an old pic I didn't have one of the back and the brakes are 2.5 hours away. And from what I rememered when I painted them the seam seemed to be solid. Anywho you should have said they were on the back from the start. j/k Sorry for any further confusion in this thread.

Hahaha. No problem. Didn't think to mention the bolts were on the back from the start because it is pretty noticeable when you have them in your hands. Sorry, it is all my fault hahaha
