So I've been searching around for a while now and can't come up with a straight answer.

At this point I am inches away from getting my RB25 and in prep for that I would like to upgrade to a LSD with the 3.692 final drive because my final power goals are about 450-500hp and I drive on the highway rather often and dislike cruising at 80mph @ 3500rpm...

I know that the R230V from a TT has it, and I know Q45 R200V has it as well. My problem is that at this time I would like to stay with my 4 lug set up because I won't have money for new wheels for quite a while.

So is it possible to take the guts out of any of those three and throw it straight into the housing of my open R200?

If this seems to be a redundant post I apologize but I can't seem to put everything together...

Thanks!

j30 is 3.9 and r230 won't fit.

I just saw this elsewhere on the forums:

Ok yeah I don't know where I saw that the J30 had the 3.692 but I can't find it anymore haha. But I did see that same writeup you linked to and reading it again it sounds like the Q45 is the best way to go because you still have a R200 housing but with stronger output shafts and of course an LSD.

But is it possible to put the Q45 final drive into the R200 on a S13 or are the gears mounted differently on the inside?

I may end up just having to bite the bullet and go 5 lug but if I don't have to that would be great.

Thoughts?

um why not just run a j30? thats what im running in my s13. iirc the q45 diff doesnt fit right off the bat, have to do some modifications..

but the NA Z32 diff is the exact same as the stock 240 diff just LSD.

J30, and Z32 are direct bolt ups just need 5 bolt axles. you may get lucky and find a 6 bolt J30 diff though.

Yeah I would but number one is that I'd like to stay with my 4 lug pattern for now and also I want the 3.692 final drive. The J30 is like 3.916 I think and I'm pretty sure the NA Z32 is 4.083 which is what the stock 240 has and I hate cruising the highway at 3500rpms.

First off I don't think you know what you are getting yourself into with the 3.6 FD. RBs like to REV this is not your KA24 anymore. They want and like to rev. Around a 4:1 FD is best for the vast majority of RBers out there.

As for swapping the Q45 guts into a different housing and getting it to work with your 4-lugs. Basic premise is no it won't work. The Q45 differential has a different spline configuration which drives the use of the Q45/TT axles (which ideally you want anyways since they are beefier), and the axles drive the use of the differently splined 5-lug hubs.

You *may* be able to swap the Q45 ring and pinion onto your existing differential (I mean the diff itself not assembly). However even that I am not sure will work, considering the various different types of diff bolts that were used by Nissan in different R200 assemblies.

To make your life simple just get a more "standard" 3.9 or 4.08 differential and be done with. It might require changing some simple stuff like axles or output shafts in the worst case, but it is way easier and you will be able to keep your 4-lugs.

LS drift.... i dont think you understand.. what makes you think you cant keep your 4 lug with a J30 diff? lmao..

i have one and my car and im still 4 lug... it has nothing to do with your hubs, only your axles.

Ok thanks for the advice guys. Apparently I don't understand as well as I thought haha. But that's good news then. I guess I was thinking that the 5 bolt pattern of the axles and diff had something to do with the end bolt pattern on the hub haha.

So the J30 axles mate right up to the 4 lug hubs right?

How do you like the 3.9 final drive of the J30?
