I have a 1990 na and I would like to know what is the best oil to use for my car. I live in Montreal, Canada and the car is out from april to october so to coolest temperature i'll drive my car is around 5'C. I want to know if synt oil is better ?

I also have a lifter tick, I plan to do a rislone treatment to try to maybe fix my problem, what is the beat way to do it ? Add it, run a few km than change oil.. Change oil, ad rislone and drive it, than chnage oil again ??

Thanks for helping me !

I would suggest using synthetic oil for your Z32, it works a little better for our type of motor. Use the OEM recommended viscosity with whatever oil you buy, do not move too far from that range or you can have some leak issues or worse (spun rod bearing) so keep that in mind.
For a stock Z32 NA (non turbo) any of the better (more expensive...) synthetic brands are fine, your best efforts are to change to oil religiously every 3000 miles (you'll have to figure for km's) along with an OEM oil filter. I ran Mobil 1 and later Royal Purple in my NA, eventually Castrol. I run Castrol in my TT.
As for the lifter tick, the best way I've heard is to use some auto trans fluid for a short period as with the Rislone- fill new oil/run engine to warm/dump, add Rislone/trans fluid and run for a short period (10-15 minutes) of idle, slow revs, idle, alternating slow/quick revs, idle. Then dump that fluid and refill all new oil/filter, run for 100 miles then replace all oil again, and done (if the tick goes away...)
It's not an uncommon problem, but one which the permanent solution is difficult and costly...removal and service.

I can attest to the lifter tick. Did it on a friend's VQ35 altima. It's seriously like magic. And if everything goes right, the lifter will fill back up and the ATF will clear the blockage in the little check valve.

I chased a tick that nearly drove me nuts, out of sheer frustration is stood on it on an on ramp and ran it up to the redline and the tick went away, these HLA's are actually very tiny and I guess that tiny air bubble can be tough to chase out.

So I have done a Kleen Flow Engine flush, change the oil and filter, add Rislone engine treatment with the new oil, drive a 100 miles on highway and when a was back, lifter tick was gone !! Verry happy that it work for mine, hope it work for other who will try. Now just Need to change my oil again, castrol 10-30 with Nissan filter and it's done !
