My 1990 z32 n/a has suddenly started cutting out. I was adjusting the tps, idle, and ignition timing and now when I drive it i wants to cut either the fuel or fuel injectors. If you hold it at about 2000 rpm it will rev then die then rev then die so and so forth. If I let it idle for a min or two then if i hit the gas it will rev all the way up then cut out again. It doesn't really completely die rpms just drop to about 500-600. When I checked it with conzult the injector pulse rate would drop from about 5ms to .2ms when ever it started to cut out. The exhaust also started smelling like a skunk spray even though I don't have any cats on the car. Just wondering if I should start digging through electrical or check for a bad fuel pump.

Also of note this car has a bad knock sensor and has had for sometime so it is in safety mode.

If the CAS and TPS are working properly, you might have a bad fuel pressure regulator

Did you check for codes?

Yes the only code it's throwing is code 34 for the knock sensor.

Update: Drove the z to work this morning and the fuel still cuts out as I drive but if I play with the throttle I can get going and once it starts accelerating past about 2500 rpm the fuel quits cutting until I let off the throttle. Every shift I would have to play with the throttle again but once I got past around 2500 rpm it would run right. Makes me think either a vacuum leak or a sticky vacuum valve "probably in the fuel reg." I think I have an extra fuel reg on my parts motor gonna try that later today. Anyone else have any other ideas?

Turns out I don't have an extra fuel pressure reg just a fuel dampener. I also went ahead and got rid of all my uneccesary vacuum lines the egr, aiv, and prvr to be precise. Is there anyway to test the fuel reg? Or should I start looking at the pump. Or maybe something electrical as my fuel injector pulse rate drops to about .2-.4 whenever it is cutting out.

Fixed! Was the tps after all. Opened it up tonight and there was a hunk of something floating around inside was apparently wedging something whenever the throttle was pushed so far.
